JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Agricultural (Ag) Sciences is seeking a Strategy and Compliance Specialist. The College's Penn State Extension is represented in each of the 67 counties within the State of Pennsylvania.

The Strategy and Compliance Specialist will work closely with College of Ag and Extension internal stakeholders (Deans, Directors, Assistant Directors, Business Operations, Client Relations Managers, Multicultural Affairs, and overall Administration within Extension), as well as University-wide stakeholders (HR, Office of Ethics & Compliance, etc.); and external stakeholders (Peer Extension units, USDA - United States Department of Agriculture; NIFA - National Institute of Food and Agriculture) to ensure compliance to USDA expectations and regulations.

The individual in this position will conduct statewide initiatives to ensure compliance measures on behalf of the College of Ag Sciences and Penn State Extension (develop trainings, reviews, action plans, processes/policies) to adhere to USDA NIFA regulations and requirements. They will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic goals are aligned not only within the College's but overall with the US Department of Agriculture and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

Additional responsibilities will include working with Extension administrators to maintain the Extension annual desk audit initiatives, overseeing bilingual initiatives and developing strategies to maintain commitment and growth to efficiently reach all audiences (ex: Latinx, Plain Sect, resource stressed, underrepresented) to ensure that the College of Ag and Extension strategic plan initiatives in this area are met and sustained.

This position will report directly to the College's Assistant Dean for Multicultural Affairs with a dotted line to the Extension Director.

Qualification include:

  • A Bachelors degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in program planning and diversity education is required (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Master's degree preferred.
  • Background and experience with Civil Right Compliance and federal non-discrimination laws and policies is desirable.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
