Our Beverage Technology and Innovation team is proud of where we’ve been, but more interested in where we’re going. This team drives creativity, growing our portfolio of products.

You’ll manage a team of scientists driving foundational research and method development for innovation opportunities 1-5 years out. The work done by this team builds the toolbox for our Product Development team so they can rapidly formulate new beverages without needing to take the time to tinker. Direct Reports: Analytical Scientist (1), Research Scientist (1), Lab Analyst (hiring soon)

Location: Onsite at our Preston, WA office 5 days a week

  • Identify and prioritize innovation possibilities to deliver meaningful impact to the company (e.g., novel ingredients, cost reductions, quality enhancements), in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Stay connected to industry trends, scouting potential opportunities for innovation and process improvement (e.g., packaging, ingredients, research yet to be commercialized, processing, quality).
  • Manage a team of talented professionals, empowering Rain Makers to reach their potential, encouraging conversations about their growth, and supporting interim goals to get them there.
  • Foster a collaborative culture of performance and accountability, supporting your team by clearly communicating deliverables, providing regular feedback, managing any roadblocks, and celebrating their accomplishments with leadership.
  • Lead technical projects, designing and assembling research platforms, reviewing complex data, and then presenting findings and recommendations to internal partners (e.g., Supply Chain, Marketing, Leadership)
  • Enhance the intellectual property program to proactively capture and protect insights as trade secrets, patents, and publications.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.


  • Five years of experience driving technical research projects in alignment with business needs. The focus is on transferrable research acumen and we are open to a variety of backgrounds (e.g., pharmaceutical, academic research with business applications, governmental).
  • One year of people management experience directly supervising a technical team, including at least one career development cycle.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or Chemistry required.

This role is safety-sensitive. This means that you'll be regularly responsible for your own safety and/or the safety of others (e.g., driving on behalf of the company, working in a warehouse or plant environment).
