Job
Summary:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Food Safety Manager
supporting the company food safety and quality standards by leading the food
safety and sanitation activities and ensuring safe and sanitary conditions at
the King’s Hawaiian Bakery manufacturing facility.
Job
Requirements:
- As a core
member of the plant leadership team, lead all aspects of all of the
regulations, policies and procedures related to food safety, sanitation
and hygiene
- Help to
develop, implement and enforce food safety standards, policies and
programs; including, but not limited to the following tasks:
- Addressing
sanitation concerns with risk-based analysis
- Pre-op
inspections for cleaning efficiency
- Use of
accurate chemicals in compliance with OSHA
- Sanitation
record management
- Routine
testing and swabbing for microbial activity
- Master
Sanitation Schedule management and Labor Management
- Develops
sanitation programs that address the additions of new production lines
and growing plant facilities
- Coordinates
all cleaning and pest control procedures, ensures that the facility is in compliance with the company, local, state and
federal food sanitation standards
- Works closely
with the Plant Manager and Quality Assurance Manager to maintain plant
procedures related to sanitation and food safety.
- Manages good
vendor relationships in the procurement of materials and services of
pest control and sanitation companies
- Understands
and aligns with all applicable regulatory requirements, including FDA,
USDA, State and Local government
- Understands
all environmental, safety and HAZCOM aspects of the position
- Participates
as a member of the HACCP, SQF, and other food safety committees
- Follows all
safety guidelines and active member of the facility safety team
- Reviews and
identifies talent to meet staffing needs
- Lead a team of
supervisors, foremen and food safety technicians.
- Coordinates
the Sanitation team to ensure compliance with the company's Sanitation
Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and environmental monitoring
program, through daily monitoring, verification and validation of such
activities.
- Monitors and
verifies good sanitation standard methodologies are adhered to by
sanitation associates
- Meets
regularly with direct reports to set goals and monitor progress toward
goals.
- Gives ongoing
feedback and conducts formal performance evaluations in a timely manner
- Delivers or
provides for training and resources required for direct reports to
perform their roles.
- Leads all
aspects of the training of plant personnel in accurate methods and
procedures for cleaning production equipment systems.
- Coordinates
and trains plant supervisors and managers on plant worker hygiene
policies and procedures. The responsibilities associated with this job
will change from time to time in accordance with the Company’s business
needs. More specifically, the incumbent may be required to perform
additional and/or different responsibilities from those set forth above!
Skills/Experience:
- A minimum of 5
years of food safety & sanitation supervisory/management experience
in a food or beverage manufacturing industry
- Bachelor
Degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Certified
third party sanitation certification preferred
- Knowledge of
basic microbiology, OSHA compliance, food laws, pest control, HACCP, and
food industry technical procedures
- Organizational
and leadership skills; able to work with cross functional departments
within the organization
- Possess
excellent critical and analytical thinking capability
- Computer
proficiency (Excel including graphing, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to
lift or move up to 50 pounds and flexibility in work schedule when
required
