Position Summary
Provide technical assistance and leadership to the
development of all new canned and fully cooked products and the optimization
of existing Crider products.
General Purpose
Assist in the R&D Center in every chore related to the
development of new products and for process enhancements. Provide leadership
to the R&D Technicians in their job efficiencies and maintaining the
R&D Center in an organized and presentable fashion. Work closely with the
Sales Team in meeting their expectations for the development of new products
and the shipping of samples.
Role Qualifications
- Provide
knowledge, skills and responsibilities necessary to lead the R&D
team and the duties associated with this position. Willingness to learn
new techniques and skills that would advance the capabilities of this
position.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage the
specifications for both canning and Cook Plant operations.
- Assist with
sample preparation, and mailing/shipping of samples.
- Assist with
sensory evaluation studies
- Must oversee
the duties, work habits and efforts of the R&D Technicians.
- Assist with
drained weight testing and data testing collection.
- Become
proficient in the use of the Omnion pH and
salt/sodium analyzer.
- Perform
Thermal Process data collection for certification.
- Assist in
product cuttings.
- Assist with
the setup, operation and cleaning of all test equipment.
- Run errands
for R&D, when needed.
Essential Skills and Experience
- It is critical
that this person communicate well, both verbally and written, with their
supervisor(s) and their peers in a dynamic environment.
- Strong
analytical skills.
- Organized and
reliable.
- Capable of
using computer, certain lab equipment and common computer office programs
in order to generate reports and record data.
- Math skills
with a basic understanding of chemistry, physics and general food
safety.
Preferred Relevant Skills and Experience
- Must have a
bachelor’s degree food science preferred.
- Clerical
experience necessary for computer competency and communicative skills.
- Attention to
details.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical
Demands: Employee is
occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle
or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms, climb stairs,
balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Lifting
occasionally up to 50# is required. Specific vision abilities required
by the job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While
performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to weather
conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level at work is usually
moderate to loud.

weekends, nights and extended days to complete the necessary tasks.
