Responsible For: N/A
Educations & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in food
science, chemistry, biology or related scientific field required. Must have a
minimum of 5 years of food and/or quality assurance experience. Expertise and
certification as a Preventive Control Qualified Individual for Human Foods is
required. Must have knowledge of/certification in HACCP, sanitation,
allergens, food defense, pest control, organic and other food safety and
quality programs. Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements including
FSMA, labeling and acid/acidified foods. Candidate should also have knowledge
of GFSI, specifically SQF. Must be proficient using computers and MS Office
software.
Summary: This position will be responsible for or assist with the
development, maintenance and reassessment of food safety and quality
programs; lead or assist with customer or third party
audits as well as regulatory inspections and may complete R&D tasks and
verification activities.
Essential Functions:
Directly assist the Senior Director and Director of Food Safety &
Quality.
Provide expertise in the areas of food safety, food quality and food defense.
Develop, maintain and reassess food safety, food quality and food defense
programs in compliance with regulatory, GFSI (SQF), and customer
requirements.
Lead or assist with regulatory inspections, third party audits, customer
audits and internal self-inspections/audits. Lead or assist with identifying
and documenting root causes and corrective actions for non-conformances.
Provide customer support such as developing new products, improving existing
products, providing specifications, addressing customer inquiries, reviewing
labels and providing COAs or performance reports.
Assist in other tasks such as verification tasks including record review,
inspections, certifying and monitoring approved suppliers, developing and
completing food safety or quality studies, perform various quality and
microbiological sampling and testing, R&D tasks, approving and monitoring
approved suppliers, and other tasks as assigned by management.
