Danone North America is looking for a Quality & Food Safety Ops
Specialist in Minster, Ohio.
The purpose of the QFS Ops Specialist is to assist the Lab Supervisor
and Quality Engineers in advancing Food Safety and Quality at the Minster
plant. This role will provide night-time leadership and guidance for the
Minster laboratory and be the quality point of contact for routine quality
tasks and troubleshooting for packaging and processing.
This position requires the ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs., have
stamina and endurance (e.g., standing, sitting, walking, etc.) for long
hours, and must be able to work nights.
Specific Job Duties & Tasks:
Assist Lab Supervisor
- Liaison to
ensure consistent communication across all lab shifts.
- Lead 2nd &
3rd shift lab technicians and provide performance feedback to lab
supervisor
- Assist with
on-boarding new 2nd & 3rd shift lab technicians; perform training
competency assessments
- Provide
guidance and troubleshooting assistance to 2nd & 3rd shift lab
technicians including determining what product needs to be held when
there is a quality failure.
- Ensure lab
activities are performed and documented properly.
- Follow-up on
corrective actions related to laboratory non-conformances
- Perform all
other assigned tasks/duties
Assist Quality Engineers
- Liaison to
ensure consistent communication across all departments
- Perform line/area
walks & equipment inspections in raw milk, processing, and packaging
(routine and investigative)
- Audit operator
quality checks
- Point of
contact to assist/troubleshoot issues in the lab, raw milk, processing,
and packaging
- Assist with
inspection & audit follow-ups & action item closure
- Assist with
quality training and education
- Assist with
improving processes and updating SOPs
- Manage holds
and assist with investigations
- Quality
support for projects & product launches that occur at night
- Execute
assigned special projects
- Perform all
other assigned tasks/duties
About you
Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must be a
self-starter and able to motivate others
- Demonstrated
ability to work with cross-functional teams and to share knowledge/ideas
- The ability to
assess, analyze, make decisions, and resolve complicated quality
problems
- The ability to
serve as a change agent who is able to "make it happen" while
building positive relationships on a foundation of trust and mutual
respect
- Must possess
excellent spreadsheet, word processing and database computer skills
- Excellent
communication (verbal, written), presentation skills, leadership, and
interpersonal skills
- The ability to
read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and can write routine
reports and correspondence
- Meticulous
work ethic and keen awareness to detail
- Ability to
work under deadlines
- Perform other
duties as assigned
Preferred
Qualifications:
- BS degree in
Food Science, Microbiology, or related field.
- Prefer 3 years
previous Quality Assurance experience in food/beverage manufacturing
environments with emphasis on dairy fermentation and laboratory
management.
