Job Summary
Manager Supplier Food Safety and Quality is responsible for the Quality
Management of suppliers and the ingredients, processing aids, additives, and
packaging supplied to McCain plants in North America. The position will
collaborate with our Plants, Procurement, R&D, and the Commercial
functions to manage supplier and ingredient risk and to ensure that new
suppliers can meet and existing suppliers continue to meet our requirements
on an on-going basis. This individual also works with our plants to ensure
accurate and timely entry of Quality Notifications (QN), and assists with
investigation and supplier CAPA for ingredient, processing aid, additive and
packaging non-conformances. The position will build relationships with
suppliers and audit suppliers based on risk and performance on a regular
basis.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and
approve new suppliers of ingredients, processing aids, additives, and
packaging
- Complete
supplier and ingredient risk assessments
- Ongoing
maintenance of supplier documentation
- Manage
supplier issues with documented CAPA to help improve ingredient,
packaging and finished product quality and conformance
- Establish a
collaborative relationship with Procurement to enhance the Supplier
Quality Management program.
- Compile
Quarterly summaries of supplier performance for review with suppliers
and with Procurement
- Collaborate
with R&D, Procurement, Food Safety, and suppliers on ingredient
specification and COA requirements
- Initiate
ingredient specification deviations where required
- Review and
assist in ingredient shelf life extensions
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 8
years’ experience in the food industry
- Plant level
food safety and quality experience desired
- Must have good
working knowledge of HACCP, FSMA and HARPC, GMPs, food safety, McCain
product specifications (FRM and Crystal Reports), supplier quality,
Procurement and R&D practices, sanitation principles, GFSI (BRC and
SQF), SAP, and Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Ability to
work and interact effectively with suppliers, R&D, Procurement,
Commercial/Sales and Quality peers.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s
Degree in Food Science or equivalent
