Job Purpose and Impact
A Site Food Safety Specialist is responsible for the consistency of Food,
Safety, Quality and Regulatory policies and standards at local site. You will
be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of food safety
processes and systems, implementing policies within the business, ensuring
and auditing compliance, and customer specifications and quality issues. Key
Accountabilities
Performs prevention activities and issue resolution for the site to ensure
consistency and collaboration. Directs work with suppliers/external manufacturers.
Accountable for completion of facility audits and proactively anticipates
risks and preventative actions. Develop, implement and assess food safety
processes and systems for facilities and drives continuous improvements.
Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality
failures. Ensures compliance with formal external and internal quality
standards. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate
group. Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while
escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. Other duties as
assigned Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of four years of related work experience
Knowledge of food safety concepts, policies, hazard analysis and risk
mitigation
Food industry experience
Project Management experience
Demonstrated technical and leadership and relationship building skills
Experience in Sanitation – building Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS),
validation of cleaning
Pest control management experience
Environmental monitoring experience
Experience in building and structuring Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point
(HACCP) plans
Flexible to work on nights, weekends or holidays as needed Preferred
Qualification
Operations experience
Understanding of statistical process control programs
Experience applying intermediate auditing and quality compliance skills to
identify and manage risks/compliance
Experience interacting with state and federal regulators
Engineering experience
Experience with Dietary supplement or API (Active
Pharmaceutical Ingredient)
Lean Six Sigma Certification
Microbiology experience
