POSITION SUMMARY:
To assist the QA/Food Safety Site manager in managing all
facets of the Quality Assurance/Food Safety function for the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist the QA/Food Safety Site Manager in the promotion of Food Safety and
GMP practices throughout the whole facility. Perform Safe Quality Food (SQF)
Practitioner duties as assigned to assist in implementing and maintaining SQF
systems and procedures.
Perform raw material and other component inspections per established
procedures and inspection instructions. Process vendor complaints/rejections
as required.
Perform warehouse audits of finished goods, WIP, and raw materials/packaging
as requested.
Review and maintain appropriate quality records and samples as needed
.
Effectively use specialized equipment to perform measurements, tests, and/or
inspections on products as required and generate necessary reports.
Interpret and guide production supervisors and plant personnel regarding the
PCI Quality Standards and product inspection instructions as needed.
Assist the QA/Food Safety Site Manager with internal, customer, and 3rd party
audits.
Organize and assist with supervising off-line rework and inspection activities
as directed.
Assist with calibration of measurement, test equipment, scales, and any other
controlled instruments included in our Calibration Program as directed.
Maintain appropriate calibration records and calibration certificates in the
Calibration Program.
Assist with necessary training for Food Safety, GMP, and Quality Systems and
Procedures for all departments in the plant. This includes preparing for and
participating in Green Area Meetings (GAM).
Assemble and publish various quality/defect data reports and indices as
directed. This could include but is not limited to statistical analyses and
trending data.
Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities as
they relate to customer complaint investigations, nonconforming product,
long-term problem solving, product and process quality improvements, and
risk/loss reduction efforts.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for following all Food Safety related policies and procedures.
Responsible for following all Safety Rules, policies, procedures and work
instructions.
Maintain documents and data analysis for various weekly, bi-weekly, or
monthly meetings as directed.
Collect, package, and arrange for shipment of various product samples to
other plants, outside test agencies, vendors, and customers as needed.
Attend professional development webinars/ coursework/ training as directed or
approved by manager.
Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the QA/Food
Safety Site Manager.
Provide backup support and serve as substitute SQF Practitioner for QA/Food
Safety Site Manager when required.
Backup: QA/Food Safety Site Manager or properly trained substitute
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent; strong verbal and written
communication skills
Associates degree or equivalent preferred
International HACCP Alliance Certificate preferred (or obtain within 1 year
of assuming the role)
Working knowledge of basic food microbiology preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Would prefer a minimum 1 year manufacturing
experience, preferably in a food or food packaging environment.
1 year quality assurance or quality control
experience in plastic injection molding or related field preferred; working
knowledge of SPC techniques, calipers, and various measurement and gaging
equipment.
Proficient at using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Outlook, Teams, et al.).
Familiarity with maintaining compliance to one or more GFSI or other relevant
auditing schemes.
