Our location in Columbus, OH, currently has an opportunity
for an Associate Scientist. In Research & Development (R&D)

Primary Job Function
- Associate Scientist
under the direction of the department management.
- Perform liquid
and powder testing of products to assure product quality as well as participate
in method validation. Training will be provided in the testing
methodology.
- Summarize data
and assist with project logistics.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Core Job Responsibilities
- Conducts routine
testing under the guidance of a research scientist, project coordinator,
or R&D manager. Directs own daily activities and incorporates
appropriate procedures.
- Read, understand,
and comply with all applicable Division, area, and group-specific safety
and employee health procedures.
- Perform accurate
and precise testing according to laboratory methods
- Operate various
types of analytical instrumentation including pH meters, viscometers,
particle size analyzers, osmometers, and colorimeters
- Complete documentation
of experiments in laboratory notebook; contribute to status reports
summarizing results, conclusion, and recommendations as appropriate.
Regularly communicate project status to management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING
Required
- B.S. in a scientific
related field.
- 2+ years’ experience
in research or industry laboratory is a plus.
- Experience with
rheology, particle size, food science, dairy science, protein chemistry,
emulsions, and design of experiments (DOE) is an advantage.
- Experience with
Sample Manager (LIMS) preferred but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft
Word and Excel a plus
Accountability
- Strategy: Projects
are assigned with defined scope and goals. Assures activities are
consistent with project critical path. Detailed direction of activities
is not required. Budgets own time to carry out assigned duties.
- Quality of Work:
Responsible for documentation accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental
results.
- Work Performance:
Successfully summarizes data and analyzes results; formulates
conclusions and reviews progress with supervisor. Actively participates
in routine maintenance, lab safety, GLP implementation as appropriate.
Based on area, may assume training role.
