Day-to-Day Objectives:

As Director Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance for URM Stores, Incyou will report to the CFO and assure that URM and its subsidiaries continuously improve their performance in Environmental Affairs, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance (EAFSRC) with Local, State and Federal Environmental Health and Safety Regulations. You will supervise the Food Safety Specialist while providing strategic leadership to URM and its subsidiaries on various (EAFSRC) initiatives as URM Stores, Inc and its subsidiaries maintain and build upon its reputation as a proactive best-in-class corporate citizen.

Essential Duties:

  • Serve as facilitator and provide technical expertise to various internal organizational teams/committees that develop URM’s EAFSRC mission, policies, and respective goals/objectives.
  • Serve as an agent of the company and representative/liaison to a variety of external customers, suppliers, industry related groups, and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead in the development and maintenance of the company’s Environmental, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance program management system to ensure proper regulatory certifications, accreditations, licensure and employee training efforts are current and accessible.
  • Create synergy and compile the knowledge and expertise across departments and subsidiaries to develop a comprehensive, systematic and structured Environmental Management system that incorporates a Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle.
  • Perform analysis and interpretation for proposed legislative actions and potential impact on the organization.
  • Monitor and remain up-to-date with proposed legislative and regulatory activities and develop company input on such proposals as needed.
  • Remain knowledgeable of concepts, practices and procedures related to the wholesale and retail grocery industry. Rely on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals.
  • Provide counsel and assistance to all departments, subsidiaries and customers directly affected by governmental regulations specific to environmental protection, public health and food safety.
  • Be a proactive member of the URM Crisis Management Team
  • Assist corporate, wholesale and retail facilities mitigate non-compliance issues and regulatory violations.

. Requirements:

To Be a Successful Candidate, You will Need the Following Experience & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene or similar field preferred, 8-years of experience in food manufacturing, food safety, environmental health or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Ability to act with the highest professionalism, exercise independent judgment and decision-making under conditions of uncertainty.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively at all levels in the Company to build and maintain the positive relationships required to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal/team effectiveness – ability to succinctly and accurately communicate to various levels of management and employees through verbal and written communication skills.
