THE POSITION
Would you like to become a Food Safety Program Specialist? Then join
the Department of Agriculture! In this position, you will manage the
implementation and execution of the National Conference of Interstate Milk
Shipments (NCIMS) Milk Laboratory Program across Pennsylvania laboratories
seeking certification to perform or currently conducting bacteriological,
drug residue, somatic cell, alkaline phosphatase, dairy water, vitamin and/or
milk container testing for milk products.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position will oversee the initial accreditation of milk
laboratories by ensuring the facility’s management possesses an understanding
of requirements related to facilities, equipment, procedures, records, and
relevant FDA / NCIMS 2400 Forms for each method to be performed. Perform
initial record review, provide oversight and guidance to Inspector during
initial inspection, and ensure facility management understands and completes
corrective actions as necessary to obtain accreditation. Additionally,
provide this oversight for laboratories that have lost accreditation and are
seeking recertification.
Work Hours and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.
- Work hours -
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm with a 30 minute
lunch
- This position
will be physically headquartered in one of the following locations:
Region 2, Montoursville; Region 6, Harrisburg; or Region 7.
Collegeville. The headquarters determination will be based upon the
office location listed on the posting which is in the closest proximity
to the selected candidate's current residence.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
- Minimum
Experience and Training Requirements - Two years as a Food Inspector 2; OR Four
years of experience in the inspection of food establishments or food
processing facilities, and a bachelor's degree in food
science, food technology, or a closely related field; OR An
equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Necessary
Special Requirement - This
position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial
Class C driver's license or equivalent.
