Job details Salary $75,000 - $85,000 a year Job Type Tenure track Full Job Description This tenure track faculty position provides
overall leadership for developing and implementing a comprehensive and
balanced teaching and applied research agenda for Family and Consumer
Sciences, Food Safety Selection and Management, this position resides within
the Departments of Extension (OSUE) and partners with Food Science and
Technology (FST) in the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental
Sciences at The Ohio State University. This tenure-track faculty position is
a joint appointment OSUE (80%) and FST (20%). This faculty member will work
collaboratively with the team of OSU professionals within OSUE as well as
cross-disciplinary with other departments and colleges. The faculty member
functions as an expert with clientele to address statewide food safety issues
as expertise is needed; provides unbiased research based solutions; evaluates
and responds to large scale statewide needs in the food industry, with
consumers and other stakeholder groups. The faculty member secures resources
(grants, contracts, user fees) to focus on these issues. In addition the
faculty member seeks courtesy faculty status within appropriate departments
to further create connections with the faculty in other departments and Ohio
Agriculture and Research Center in Wooster. NOTE: Tenure Initiating Unit
(TIU) Department of Extension.

Required Experience: Strong written and oral communication skills; work experience with
diverse audiences and organizations; demonstrated success in working as part
of a team and in initiating collaborative partnerships; leadership ability
and strong teaching /subject matter experience in food safety, food
preservation, food selection and management. Personal transportation is
required. Must be willing to work flexible hours including evening and
weekends with minimal supervision. Desired Experience: Entrepreneurial
spirit; skilled communicator; strong teacher; technologically savvy; problem
solving orientation; self-directed; adaptable and flexible. Education Required: Earned doctorate
in the subject area of Food Science or Microbiology Desired: National certification in Food Safety Position open until filled with priority review given to applications
