We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Manager,
Food Safety and Quality Assurance – Supply Chain in Baldwin
Park, CA.
The Manager, Food Safety and Quality Assurance – Supply
Chain is responsible for the development, oversight, and execution
of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs throughout In-N-Out
Burger’s Supply Chain.
In-N-Out Burger operates eight distribution centers (DCs):
Baldwin Park, CA; Lathrop, CA; Lancaster, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Phoenix, AZ;
Colorado Springs, CO; Draper, UT; and Medford, OR. These DCs receive,
warehouse, and deliver all product used in In-N-Out Burger’s more than 370
restaurants located in these same states. This role is a key leadership
position, responsible for ensuring all products delivered to In-N-Out’s
restaurants, from each of these DCs, adheres to In-N-Out’s high
quality standards, industry best food safety practices, and all
related regulations.
General Responsibilities
Quality Control
- Oversee the QC sampling operations at all
warehouses
- Standardize practices and protocols for
QC sampling execution
- Oversee the execution of sampling
procedures
- Monitor performance and report to key
stakeholders
- Oversee vendor compliance to In-N-Out
Burger quality and food safety standards
Quality Assurance
- Review and respond to quality inquiries
from restaurants
- Partner with vendors and internal
partners to determine and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Partner with the Purchasing Manager to
ensure excellent purchase specifications
- Oversee second and third-party supplier
audit programs
- Gather data, analyze trends, and report
findings and recommendations to leadership
Food Safety
- Manage the food safety program across all
supply chain functions ensuring adherence to FSMA compliant Food Safety
Plans
- Review, modify, and update food safety
plans to ensure regulatory compliance and appropriate mitigation of all
reasonably foreseeable food safety risks in supply chain
- Oversee and ensure the execution of all aspects
of supply chain food safety plans
- Ensure appropriate preventive measures
and timely corrective actions as necessary to ensure food safety
Leadership
- Ensure excellent training and development
for all direct reports and Associates engaged in FSQA responsibilities
- Maintain a team-oriented atmosphere with
direct reports and other departments
- Remain current on industry best FSQA
practices and applicable regulation and provide appropriate guidance to
leadership
- Maintain strong professional
relationships with key stakeholders and other relevant groups,
including:
- In-N-Out Operations, Production,
Purchasing, Warehousing, Distribution, Stores, and other internal teams
- Regulatory bodies with food safety
oversight of In-N-Out Burger supply chain facilities
- In-N-Out Burger vendors
- FSQA related professional organizations
and industry peers
Work Schedule + Benefits
- Full-time position, Salary (exempt)
- Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
Occasional weekend, after hours, holiday and travel availability may be
required
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a
biology, chemistry, or another closely related science
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in food
safety quality assurance fields
- Minimum 2 years’ food
manufacturing/warehousing/transport audit experience
- FSMA qualified auditor, including
processed food manufacturing, farms, warehousing, and distribution
- FSMA PCQI trained
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills
- Excellent verbal and written
communication skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute
training programs
- Ability to collaborate and work as part
of a team
- Ability to work independently and with a
focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to write business reports and
make presentations
