Assurance
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for
supporting and leading supplier assurance activities. The scope of the
position involves assurance that assigned ingredient category new and
existing suppliers of raw materials and packaging are following all JMS Food
Safety, Quality and Regulatory standards. This position interacts with
procurement, operations, R&D, consumer contact, co-pack QA, co-pack
operations, regulatory and production planning groups on a frequent basis.
This position acts as a liaison between suppliers, procurement, JMS internal
plants and cross-functional teams to improve food safety and quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for
managing and implementing supplier Food Safety & Quality programs and
procedures. The scope of the position involves assurance that all new and
existing suppliers comply with all Regulatory and Quality standards.
- Lead and manage team that focuses on
assigned ingredient portfolio ensuring suppliers meet program
requirements for food safety and quality, people development, and
continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance and improvements to
Approval Process for qualification of new ingredient suppliers
- Conduct audits at supplier locations prior
to purchasing and as required per program requirements
- Manage quality and food safety expectations
for existing ingredient supply chain which includes but not limited to:
audit corrective action follow-up, facilitate discussion between JMS
plant and supplier when quality or food safety issues require
mitigation, support internal raw material sampling and testing protocol
and data analysis, etc.
- Maintain and review ingredient supplier
documentation
- Monitor compliance to Smucker Ingredient
Specifications through receiving data and Supplier Non-Conformance
Report review and work to reduce non-conformances
- Maintain Approved Vendor List for Ingredient
usage in Smucker products
SELECTION CRITERIA
Education
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a Food
Science or related scientific degree is preferred
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual
(human or animal food) or HACCP experience is preferred
Experience
- Minimum 2 years
experience in food manufacturing environment with QA or Food
Safety experience required
- At least 5 years of progressive experience
QA/Food Safety is required
- Previous people management experience is
preferred
- Experience with external supplier or
co-manufacturing relationship is preferred
Other
- Solid working knowledge of quality
assurance, food manufacturing, packaging, processing and distribution
- Strong ability to work in cross-functional
& team-oriented environment with multiple disciplines
- Proven capabilities in the area of project
management
- Self-starter; take charge, positive &
proactive attitude
- Easily understands & follow directions
- Ability to lead several projects altogether
and concurrently
- Detail & process oriented with strong
problem resolution abilities
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, Specification management system like Prodika,
etc.)
- Ability to communicate clearly within the
organization and externally
- Excellent written and verbal communication
skills
- Position may require up to 40% travel
annually
