Overview:
Provide leadership, technical assistance and direction to
quality assurance technicians and will be responsible for overall product
quality for the plant. Candidate will involve in all
aspects of quality and food safety including but are not limited to audits,
HACCP, program evaluation, GMP training, Sanitation and Microbial Control.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to comply and enforce SQF
code and other applicable Food Safety Management Standards.
- Responsible to comply with all Quality
and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual
improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with
the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance
to their intended use and safe for human consumption.
- Develop and execute department budget and
implement Capitol Budget to ensure facilities and equipment are enough
to support department goals and objectives.
- Manage and implement effective corrective
action systems to improve quality.
- Supervise the monitoring and inspection
of the product, equipment usage and processing steps of raw ingredients
received from approved suppliers through finished goods, including
monitoring ingredients, formulation and processing procedures to ensure
production to design quality and safe product.
- Monitor all compliance programs with
weights, processing temperatures, GMP’s and microbial control.
- Develop and communicate plant programs to
meet compliance with government standards and HACCP guidelines.
- Monitor and train respective employees
and establish safe work Procedures.
- Provide leadership in coaching, education
and training of management staff and plant employees for Quality
Assurance; seeks assistance as needed from other training resources.
- Communicate with USDA and Customers to
resolve issues as they arise.
- Develop and implement programs to ensure
raw materials, in-process and final products follow internal and
customers establish specifications and standards
- Assist with special projects as needed
and approved by Director of Quality Assurance and Technical Services.
- Follow and enforce company policies.
- Follow and enforce safety procedures.
- Responsible to comply with FSMA
requirements, SQF Code and other applicable Food Safety Management
Standards.
- Responsible to enforce all Quality and
Food Safety Management Standards and Regulations to ensure continual
improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with
the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in
accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption.
- Manage and implement effective corrective
action systems to improve quality.
- Develop and communicate plant programs to
meet compliance with government standards and HACCP guidelines.
- Document processes and procedures which
standardize and support company and regulatory information requirements.
- Convey, demonstrate and implement good
manufacturing practices.
- Ethically represent the company and be
compliant with corporate Code of Conduct.
- Complete other QA duties as assigned by
Director of Quality Assurance and Technical Services.
- Hosting and responding to regulatory,
certification and customer audits in coordination with senior management
Supervisory Duties:
Supervises the day-shift and night-shift QA/QC Supervisors
Work Environment:
- Industrial Plant environment with related
noise and temperatures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and use a computer for
extended periods of time; Ability to answer phones, and utilize a
variety of office equipment
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. and
reach overhead
- Must be able to climb stairs
- Requires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting,
lifting, and other physical movements to perform the job
Travel Requirements:
- 20% travel, both domestic and
international, may be required.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology,
Biology, Chemistry or related Fields
- 5-8 years of experience in Manufacturing
and Quality Assurance in food industry
- Must be formally trained on HACCP
implementation
- Must be a trained Preventive Control
Qualified Individual (PCQI)
- Understanding of GMP, FSMA, SQF Code Food
Allergens and Microbiology
- Advanced training and knowledge to ensure
compliance with FSMA regulations, state and federal food standards,
sanitation chemical/material use and procedures, food safety procedures,
and daily plant inspections, 3rd party audits, food labeling, and
product distribution and handling
- Excellent record keeping and
documentation skills
- Knowledge in government regulatory
requirement in the process of Foods
- Quality and Food Safety Attitude
- Previous experience in the supervision of
personnel
- Must be able to lead team members
effectively
- Must be assertive and able to function
independently
- Must be able to recognize and correct the
quality problems
- Must be able to exercise good judgment
and decision-making skills
- Must be able to complete tasks in a
timely fashion
- Must be dependable and willing to work
all hours/shifts required to meet departmental demand
