Job overview and responsibilities
The Senior Manager Supply Food Safety will lead the meal
commercialization, supplier verification and internal assessment programs for
United Catering Operations. This role will develop, implement and maintain a
supplier verification program for food, beverages and food contact packaging
materials that is FDA compliant. The successful candidate will be responsible
for the maintenance of hazard analysis for food products sourced both locally
and globally to be served on aircrafts and in UA lounges. This role is responsible
to develop, implement and sustain the food safety management system. This
position is also responsible for training and supervision of the cross
functional team members to understand food safety requirements while
providing the oversight to ensure compliance with FDA and other global
regulatory requirements. This position is hybrid with flexibility to work
anywhere in the United States, with regular travel to Chicago required.
- Develop,
maintain and continuously improve the supply chain preventive control
program for all, food products, beverages and direct food contact
materials (including plates, utensils etc.) for both domestic and global
markets
- Develop and
oversee the hazard analyses for United menus utilizing a risk-based
strategy to assess and mitigate foreseeable biological, chemical and
physical hazards that can jeopardize the quality and safety of food
products
- Oversee the
development, implementation and maintenance of the corporate food safety
policies and procedures through the Catering Operations Business Manual
- Develop,
implement and maintain the commercialization of new products, working
with the menu planning team to ensure material specifications are
developed
- Provide
critical support in allergen identification and product labeling
- Provide
technical assistance and support, acting as a liaison between catering
locations and suppliers/distributors in the case of out of specification
or complaint situations
- Develop &
implement the audit program for suppliers and monitor compliance via a Vendor
Scorecard
Required
- Bachelor or
Master’s in Food Science or related degree with extensive experience in
supply verification programs and leading audits
- 5+ years’
experience in managing supply verification programs, internal audit
program development and maintenance and commercialization of new
products
- HACCP
Certification, PCQI Qualification, FSSC22000 Lead Auditor Certified,
Seafood HACCP
- Knowledge of
FDA/FSMA, USDA, CFIA and global regulatory requirements for food
production facilities
- Knowledge of food
microbiology and materials hazard analysis
- Knowledge of
auditing and supply verification programs
- Knowledge of
new product commercialization
- Knowledge of
internal audit program design and implementation
- Experience
with implementation of GFSI schemes
- Knowledge of Airvision, Safety Chain and Quality First
- Strong oral
and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly
and effectively with customers, suppliers and other business contact
- Must be
legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without
sponsorship
- Successful
completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable,
punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
- English
required. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Travel
required up to 40%
Preferred
- Experience
with FDA/USDA audits
- 5 plus years’
experience in the management of these programs
- Program and
Process Management experience in highly complex operations
