- Bachelor’s
degree in Food Science or a related field
- 5+ years'
experience managing Food Safety and Quality in a large
scale retail or manufacturing environment
(multi-store/multi-plant)
- Experience
using knowledge of local, state, and federal food regulations, including
US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Federal Drug Administration
(FDA)
- Experience
interacting with state and local regulators, including Department of
Health

We are looking for a Regional Food Safety Manager to join our team in the
greater Los Angeles area. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly
visible space and be part of a vibrant and fast-growing company! While the
role sits virtually in the Los Angeles area, frequent travel is also part of
the role.
Key job responsibilities
- Implement
operational site programs and processes for receipt, storage,
transportation, and disposal of food to ensure customer safety
- Complete food
safety audits at sites
- Work with
regulatory agencies for site inspections
- Leverage
technology to manage compliance processes
- Monitor
business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness
- Continuously
identify and communicate improvement opportunities
- Work with
stakeholders to ensure food safety requirements are met
About
the team
The Food Safety & Compliance team provides food safety subject matter
expertise for Amazon’s global food businesses. Our mission is to build and
maintain the trust of our customers by assuring the safety and quality of
Amazon’s ingestible products. We deliver on this mission with science-based, data-driven
programs that we continuously improve for the benefit of our customers.
- Master’s
degree in Food Science or a related field -Working knowledge of
environmental monitoring programs and micro-organisms of concern to the
food industry
- 6+ years of
experience managing Food Safety and Quality in a large
scale retail or manufacturing environment
(multi-store/multi-plant)
- Food Safety
Auditing experience, particularly with a state or local regulator such
as the Department of Health
- Extensive
knowledgeable in local, state, and federal food regulations (including
USDA and FDA);
- Lean Six Sigma
experience
