THE POSITION
If you are a person that has experience in supervising the regulation
of food safety, this may be a position for you!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Keeping Pennsylvania Growing means safe food and safe dining
experiences. The Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Food Safety and
Laboratory Services plays a critical role in protecting Pennsylvanians and
our visitors by regulating the tens of thousands of eating and drinking
establishments, retail food stores, and food manufacturers found across the
state to ensure compliance with food safety laws.
As a Regional Food Safety Supervisor, you will coordinate the response to
emergency situations during and after regular work hours, such as food
vehicle and rail accidents, fires, power outages, and acts of nature to
determine food safety; coordinate the investigation of complaints involving
food products, sanitation conditions, and other food related problems;
conduct individual and joint audits of regional food inspectors performance
for uniformity in the application of established laws, rules, regulations and
program procedures; and accomplish other duties as assigned by management of
the Department.
Full-time employment.
- Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with 30
minute lunch.
- Position will
be home headquartered if within the following counties: Dauphin, Perry
or Cumberland Counties.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
- Minimum
Experience and Training Requirements - Two years as a Food Inspector 2,
Agriculture (commonwealth title); OR Four years of
experience in the inspection of food establishments or food processing
facilities, and a bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or
a closely related field; OR An equivalent combination
of experience or training.
- SPECIAL
REQUIREMENT: All
positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
