SUMMARY
OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Specialist, Food Safety
& Quality is responsible for supporting and administrating programs and
processes that ensure supplier excellence as it pertains to food safety and
quality assurance. This includes administration of a new supplier monitoring
program, the management and resolution of product quality feedback and the
documentation of department processes and procedures. The Senior Specialist,
Food Safety & Quality will also be held accountable for maintaining and
reviewing required documentation from suppliers and managing several other
repositories of relevant information. This position will also undertake
strategic department projects, as needed, as time permits. This role reports
to the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain. The position will work closely
with suppliers, brokers, distribution centers, operations and the supplier
excellence team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain
entire lifecycle for internal feedback/complaint management
- Administer
supplier monitoring program that ensures supplier excellence and that
product meets specification; follow-up accordingly
- Ensure
required supplier documentation is received, reviewed, organized and up
to date
- Update, track
and maintain information regarding new or pending changes to regulatory
affairs
- Document
department processes and procedures
- Work with
supplier excellence team to contribute subject matter expertise for
internal decision making
- Complete,
maintain and distribute documentation related to food safety and quality
- Support
cross-functional food safety and quality initiatives
- Remain
informed of new findings, knowledge, practice and solutions related to
food safety, quality and regulatory compliance
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 1-3+ years of
relevant experience is required
- Food/beverage
manufacturing experience preferred
- QSR or Fast
Casual experience a plus
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. or M.S
degree in science: food safety, public health, microbiology, food
science or related discipline is preferred
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, KNOWLEDGE, OR
LICENSES
- Knowledge and
understanding of microbiological testing
- Knowledge of
Global Food Safety Initiative and benchmarked schemes
- Knowledge of
the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
- PCQI training,
preferred
- ServSafe certification
- High level of
integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
- Strong
interpersonal, written, communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-starter;
able to clarify ambiguity and create solutions in a fast-paced
organization
- Solid project
management skills with excellent organizational skills and ability to
maintain composure under pressure
- Ability to
work cross-functionally and build working relationships through
collaboration, influence and negotiation to successfully accomplish a
task
- Ability to
work on tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment
- Must be
computer proficient (MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- This position
requires up to 10% travel to manufacturers and cafes, as needed.
