This is a remote opportunity.
A Day in the Life of a Sr. Scientist, Food Safety & Quality Assurance:
Work across corporate and plant quality teams, package engineering, product
development, research sciences and procurement to initiate all packaging
supplier approvals.
Ensure that the integrated approved supplier system is maintained with
required documentation through the R&D systems.
Conduct assessment of supplier HACCP/ Food Safety Plans, 3rd party audits,
supplier surveys, and all related quality systems documents.
Conduct searches on FDA recalls and warning letter activities across the
approved supplier base and for new potential suppliers.
Support packaging supplier issue resolutions.
Create supplier related performance reports.
Review and complete customer questionnaires and/or agreements
Provide quality and food safety support during investigations from customer
complaints and/or internal plant holds.
Engage technical experts from corporate, industry experts, and chemical /
equipment suppliers to troubleshoot any sanitation challenges and identify
novel technologies and methodologies that improve sanitation effectiveness.
This position requires travel (30-45%
)
Qualifications:
BS/MS/Ph.D. in Food Science or related field
Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in Food Safety or Quality
Assurance
Good working knowledge in the areas of Quality Systems, certifications and
Auditing Protocols. FDA knowledge and PCQI certification are a plus
Food safety experience with Supplier Quality including but not limited to
microbiology, foreign material, allergen control, traceability, and others
Expertise in sanitation programs, regulatory compliance, specification
adherence, and other food safety and quality programs with suppliers
Excellent collaborative and problem-solving skills, with strong written and
verbal communication skills
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
