Overview:
The Sr. Principal Team Leader of
Safety, Quality & Compliance (“SQC”) will lead compliance, risk
management, contingency planning, contingency execution, safety, and training
across Chick-fil-A internal distribution centers. This person will develop,
implement, and maintain these standards, processes, trainings, and programs
to ensure that they meet the needs of the organization and its employees.
Over the next several years, this role is expected to grow to leading
compliance, risk management, contingency planning, contingency execution,
safety, and training across the distribution center network distributing
over$3B/yr worth of product to Restaurants. This
person will grow the talent and business acumen of administrative staff at
each of the DCs. This person will have the opportunity to create standards, processes,
trainings, and programs for a distribution operation and will support the
drive for supply chain innovation unique to the food service industry. This
position is based in our Atlanta, GA Home Office and is a part of our new,
wholly owned subsidiary of Chick-fil-A Inc.

Restaurant needs through distribution innovation that extends the Chick-fil-A
culture of care to those it serves, as well as those it employs.
This subsidiary is in the early stages of development and is a dynamic,
fast-paced work environment focused on launching this new service to
Restaurants across the nation.
Responsibilities:
To be successful in this role, you
will be a leader in evaluating and mitigating risks, compliance governance,
establishing and executing contingency plans, training on operations and food
safety, environmental health and safety, fleet safety and compliance, and
much more to ensure Chick-fil-A Supply complies with all federal, state, and
local laws and regulations. SQC encompasses Food Safety and Quality Assurance
(“FSQA”). Environmental Health & Safety (“EHS”), and Fleet Safety &
Compliance (“FSC”). Regulatory compliance includes but is not limited to:
FDA, USDA, DOT, FMSCA, OSHA and EPA. Other responsibilities include but are
not limited to: HACCP, material handling equipment (MHE) certifications,
stock recovery and sustainability.
In addition, a successful Sr. Principal Team Leader - Safety, Quality and
Compliance Manager will:
- Lead
and implement the overall SQC strategy and vision for CFA Supply
Facilities
- Lead
and drive continuous improvement of CFA Supply’s safety program (Behavior-Based
Safety) for warehouse and drivers
- Develop,
implement, maintain, and test compliance, risk management, and
contingency standards, processes, trainings, systems, and programs for
the distribution operation. Examples – DOT, GFSI, HACCP, cold chain management,
MHE, Stock recovery and withdraws, sustainability, etc
- Work
with the DC Leadership Teams and Senior CFA Supply Leadership to ensure
all compliance, risk management, and contingency planning programs are
being maintained, trained, and audited
- Drive
evaluation of risk management for SQC obligations and operations -
identifying, quantifying, and offering solutions to risks
- Lead
execution of contingency plans when required
- Lead
SQC-employee training programs related to Chick-fil-A distribution,
including operational and general compliance programs
- Lead
and develop KPIs and regular trend analyses to identify gaps and
opportunities for early intervention in all aspects of SQC
- Work
with Talent to ensure corporate policies are accurate, current, and in
compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Partner
with Legal to identify any relevant legal concerns, regulatory changes,
or pending legislation impacting CFA Supply, Also, lead review and
policy updates as warranted
- Build
relationships with key suppliers
- Develop
Quality Management System, processes, and strategies in support CFA
Distribution network locations
- Define
needs and lead procurement of compliance and risk related systems,
trainings, etc
- Work
cross-functionally (e.g., Operations, HR, Legal, IT) to ensure corporate
policies are effectively achieving compliance with all laws, regulations
and company policies and procedures
- Support
company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
- Support
P&L management at the DCs and Entity-level
- Support
Chick-fil-A vision and strategy
- support
innovation in the distribution center operation
- Lead
and develop SQC strategy as set forth by Chick-fil-A Supply and Function
Director
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong
business acumen and proven track record of results
- Extensive
knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance governance in
distribution and transportation (i.e., OSHA, EPA, FDA, State Food
Distribution Regulating Authority, DOT, etc)
- Expertise
and experience in compliance monitoring and managing third-party audit
schemes
- Functional
knowledge and expertise in distribution, preferably food service
distribution
- Standards,
processes, systems, and contingencies related to environmental
management, occupational health, and workforce safety, food safety,
fleet safety and compliance, and all relevant laws and regulations
- Compliance
and risk performance metrics, measurement, and enforcement
- Employee
training programs
- Working
knowledge of innovations in supply chain, risk management, contingency
planning, and contingency execution
- Success
in development and implementation of effective compliance monitoring
programs and measurement tools
- Strong
communication skills for advising senior leadership and DC teams
- Working
knowledge of SQC leading practices in supply chain, risk management, and
data analytics (e.g., behavior-based safety, OIR/DART/LTIR, CAPAs, CSA
Scores, EHS risk management), vendor/contractor management practices,
and ergonomics
- Self-starter
with excellent project management and organization skills
- Exceptional
problem solving and communication skills, detail oriented, creative, and
has strong organizational skills
- Able
to anticipate needs, lead multiple projects, and manage shifting
priorities
- Strong
ability to operate in a Distribution Center or Corporate Office
environment
- Proven
track record to lead and develop talent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate
Degree
- Experience
leading a field team or direct operations responsibility
- Experience
in incident investigation, as well as knowledge of auditing and
monitoring procedures
- Experience
working with Process Safety Management and Risk Management Programs
- Experience
with Environmental Information Management Systems (EMIS), Quality
Management Systems (QMS), and Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS)
- Highly
skilled in Organizational Design and Management
- Certification
(at least one of the following): Certified Safety Professional (CSP),
Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS), Certified Safety Director (CSD),
Certified Industrial Hygienist, ARM Accredited Risk Management
Professional), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Preventive
Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), HACCP, IFT Certified Food
Scientist, NEHA Registered Environmental Health Specialist, American
Society for Quality Certified HACCP Auditor, SQF Practitioner
- Have
at least 5 years in food distribution operations
- Experience
with management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, OSHA
VPP, SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, IFS, PrimusGFS)
