Full Job Description
The Senior Safety Program Manager provides
leadership and direction for the North America OU System in the area of
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) management as a key component of our
environmental, safety and sustainability agenda, aligned with our vision of
zero work-related injuries and illnesses. This position is responsible for
the development and implementation of plans and processes to address systemic
Health and Safety Issues; collaborating with functional areas including
operations, NA and Global governance, IMCR, engineering, PAC, environmental
and innovation. This position coordinates external relationships with the
corporate function through the GSC, external regulatory bodies, bottling
partners, customers, NGOs and trade associations. It involves development of
strategies to improve the performance of the organization to support the
objective of a supply chain that is a global beverage industry leader in
Health and Safety performance.
The Senior Safety Program Manager will need to partner with peer technical
functions in the global system as well as in the North American FBO system to
harvest system best practices for the benefit of North America.
What You’ll Do For Us
Develop and manage strategic, long-term, results-oriented programs that
improve organizational Safety Culture performance of the North America
OU System partners to address issues and future trends (such as emerging
Health and Safety legislation or policy development) expected to affect
the business. This may include working with Corporate and field leaders
to define and deploy the strategy/plan, develop a vision for one's area
of accountability (i.e., operating unit, department) and create support
and inspiration around that vision.
- Partner with cross-functional areas
including Global Safety, Environment and Sustainability, Manufacturing,
Field Operations, NA Governance, Engineering, Global Audit Organization,
Finance, Operational Excellence , Public
Affairs and Communications, Customers, and Franchise Bottlers to ensure
Occupational Health & Safety strategies and tactics are embedded in
all aspects of the North America OU system operating framework
- Develop and maintain partnerships with
senior management stakeholders in order to influence business
decision-making, develop strategies, goals, or plans that enable the
Company to improve internal operations and practices, including
alignment with management system deployment and the development of an
OSH culture founded on our commitment to sustainable business practices
- Act as scientific, regulatory, or
technical expert and consultant by responding to targeted questions from
the field or other departments/business units and providing support to
branches, bottling partners and customers. This includes acting as a
resource for general information and acting as a consultant for other
technical personnel in the Company. Analyze situations and take action to remove barriers or obstacles that keep
or could keep work in your area of accountability from being completed
as committed.
- Review facility operations environment
(e.g., technology, systems, quality, cost, efficiencies, yield) in order
to recommend process improvements. Ability to understand and apply new
technologies for beverage production and distribution such that process
improvements are moving toward company safety targets, Global Supply
Chain organization, and Bottler leadership
- Represent the Company with respect Occupational
Health & Safety issues before external organizations such as
governmental regulators, NGO partners, trade, scientific and industry
groups or in internal company forums to share best practices and promote
the NAOU position as necessary. Consult with Company Media
Relations/Public Affairs groups in order to prepare for and respond to
potential media issues as a result of an incident.
- Track, trend and set strategies and goals
around key performance indicators for occupational safety
- Manage Environmental Remediation projects
related to M&A’s and/or system of the future divestitures; work with
internal team members to ensure invoices are processed and financial
reserve balances are tracked; work with external regulatory agencies and
environmental consultants to track project status to closure
- Lead/Co-Lead NA Safety Advisory Council
- Facilitate programs for continuous
improvement including but not limited to Serious Injury and Fatality
Prevention/Life Saving Rules, Ergonomics, Culture, Behavior Based Safety,
Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), etc.
- Serve as COVID-19 Safety Lead and/or
future pandemic IMCR team member and provide updates and guidance to the
NA System
- Support and represent NA OU in key forums
including GSC, Coca-Cola Bottlers Association Risk Forum, NA Safety
Advisory Council, etc.
- Work closely with the Global Hazard
Communication team to serve as the HCS/GHS champion and POC for North
America. Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are created and in place for
new and existing products produced by NA Supply Chain and/or NA FBO’s,
respond to requests for SDS’s from internal and external groups as
applicable
- Serve as OU KOSMOS Champion. Validate
safety related data submitted by FBO and Supply Chain sites.
- Maintain Environment and Safety
requirements in the QSE Requirements Manual for North America and
otherwise support the NA OU QMS; possibility of serving as a QMS Element
Owner and/or QMS Lead
- Provide training and other resources
needed to build EHS capability within TI&S and throughout the NA
System
- Support the OSHA VPP program in NA
including but not limited to educating the system, promoting VPP within
Supply Chain and FBO Bottler network, support preparation efforts and
applications for VPP certification, and represent the NA OU as a Special
Government Employee (SGE) for the OSHA VPP program to help satisfy
outreach expectations
- Maintain resources and other relevant
content on Info Central
- Travel to NA System locations to provide
EHS support as needed; travel expected to be ~25%
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in EHS, Engineering or
equivalent technical discipline required. Master's Degree or equivalent
work experience, professional certifications (CSP (BCSP), CIH (ABIH)) a
plus
7+ years of relevant experience required
- ISO Lead Auditor trained (preferred)
- Experience with sustainability and
environmental aspects including remediation activities (a plus)
- VPP SGE or ability to obtain within a set
period of time (a plus)
Additional Skills and Abilities
- Competency and familiarity with applying
OSH in a typical manufacturing & distribution setting
- Expert knowledge of relevant technical
and regulatory systems (US and Canada) including: ergonomics, PSM, industrial
hygiene, industrial vehicle safety, machine safety, and transportation
safety
