Full Job Description
The
Global Food Safety and Quality Manager oversees and leads the development,
implementation, validation and maintenance of the corporate Quality System,
Food Safety Standards and Supplier Quality. This
includes the development, socialization, distribution, training, auditing and
improvement of the corporate quality and food safety policies. This position
drives corporate food safety and quality strategy to mitigate food safety
risk through implementation of the field level risk based
food safety preventive controls programs.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Quality & Food Safety Document management
- Define, maintain and improve the
corporate Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures.
- Facilitate the document control program
- Plan the 3rd party audit schedule for
global production sites.
- Plan and Coordinate annual Simulated
Recall exercises.
- Manage a consistent approach globally to
manage pre-requisite programs.
- Develop the food safety training
curriculum.
Supplier Quality Management
- Manage team responsible for global raw
material supplier compliance
- Provide direction to manage and mitigate
emerging supply chain quality issues
- Lead supplier quality and food safety
risk assessments
Emerging Food Safety & Quality Regulations and Issues
- Advise the Quality, Operations and
Commercial leadership teams on food safety and food quality trends,
issues and changes in regulations within the process and recommend
appropriate proactive programs.
- Share best practices and communicate
impending quality and food safety trends.
- Maintain a working relationship with
regulators, industry partners, trade associations to remain current on
emerging issues.
Food Safety Plans
- Ensure a standard approach to Food Safety
Plan and risk assessments
- Provide training to risk assessments as
related to the expected Food Safety plans at each plant.
- Provide leadership in devising solutions
for continuous improvement. Implement, and maintain food safety
practices following GFSI standards and in compliance with all FSMA
provisions
- Provide direction and guidance to plant
Quality Managers and the Operations team in prevention and resolution of
critical food safety and food hygiene challenges.
- Serves as the Qualified Individual for
validation and verification of Food Safety strategy and ensuring
appropriate support for each site.
Food Defense/Food Fraud
- Maintain FDA registrations at applicable
plants and facilities. Verfiy toller registration is maintained.
- Develop, maintain, socialize and enforce
food defense requirements for new or modified building, equipment and
process design.
COMPETENCIES

initiative, and possess adaptability and communication skills necessary
for success in this position.

Procurement, Operations, Regulatory, Sales.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a science-based area
of study (Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry).
- Certified internal auditor
- FSPCA PCQI for Human Food certified
- BRCGS Approved Training Partner
- FSPCA PCQI for Animal Food certified a
plus
EXPERIENCE
- 5-10 years food industry experience
managing people and a minimum of 3 years of supplier quality related
experience in the food industry.
- Working with and knowledge of regulatory
requirements in the food industry.
- Worked with ERP systems (preferably SAP)
- Understanding of Food Safety regulations,
laws, and best practices including those from FDA, USDA, and other
state/provincial/ local entities
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
- Basic knowledge of food microbiology,
food safety, and food defense.
- Knowledge of food science, engineering
and manufacturing principles
- Extensive knowledge of quality and food
safety systems related to food hygiene, HACCP, sanitation and cGMPs.
- Leadership, organization, delegation,
decision-making, problem solving, personnel development, cross
functional communication; written and oral, negotiation, conflict
resolution, budgeting and supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Good project management skills.
- Knowledge about Quality methodology
- Know and understand aspects of the GFSI
schemes and certifications such as BRCGS.
- Willing to travel (25-50%)
