JOB
- This vacancy announcement is to fill two
(2) positions. Applicants applying for position number 60066341 will
also be considered for position number 60066342.****The standardized annual
salary for this position is $46,689 dependent upon fund availability and
OSHR approval.*** **This position is currently located within the
Department of Public Safety but will transfer to the Department of Adult
Correction when it is established on January 1st, 2023.** Reporting to
the Food Service Supervisor, this position duties include, but not
limited to, the following: Supervising of offenders performing
large-scale food production and food service operations at close custody
prison facilities.Supervising offenders in
their assigned food preparation and food service work areas.Overseeing offender workers engaged in a
variety of activities in food production including cooking baking, and
serving food to the offender population.Training
offenders in institutional cooking, baking, and serving, while
maintaining sanitation standards in all areas of the kitchen.
Maintaining proper food storage and sanitation or the quality of food
service and sanitary conditions .Ensuring that the offenders supervised
are preparing food according to all quality and sanitary regulations.This is a full-time position (40 hours
per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work
schedule to meet business need.Note to Current
State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC07 (Salary
Range: $34,084 - $59,646). State employees are encouraged to apply for

than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new
salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of
relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal
equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result. About the

Central Prison: Central Prison is a multi-custody prison housing male

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years
of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in
management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional
Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum
Education and Experience for a Trainee Appointment: High school or General
Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience in
institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a
commercial food service operations, as a Correctional Officer; or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special
Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina
Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
