Position Purpose

Acting on own initiative, the Quality Assurance Engineer identifies potential or existing quality issues, assists with responses to customer complaints, analyzes site quality data trends and leads root cause analysis to drive improvement in processes. The Quality Assurance Engineer utilizes the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) process and manages multiple projects within all areas of the winery.

Essential Duties

  • Performs internal investigations for customer complaints for bulk wine and case goods programs to determine root cause and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Provides technical support to the Quality Control team at designated site
  • Develops and implements quality control response plans for out of specification situations
  • Drives packaging Quality Assurance upstream to prevent production of non-conforming product
  • Works within SAP to manage the finished product hold and release process for designated site
  • Assists with site compliance to quality and food safety standards, and serves as an internal auditor
  • Performs Six Sigma DMAIC projects to drive quality improvements
  • Works with the Packaging Engineer and vendors to resolve non-conforming material issues
  • Assists Packaging Engineer with new material qualifications
  • Performs air quality monitoring in key areas of designated site
  • Assists with pest control program management at designated site
  • Other duties may be assigned

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline
  • 5+ years experience in Quality Control/Assurance
  • Project management experience and strong problem-solving skills in an individual role and as a team facilitator
  • Experience with SAP desired
  • Experience utilizing statistics and the Six Sigma DMAIC process
  • Experience with packaging and packaging material quality preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions, communicate and defend them
  • Ability to support and manage multiple projects simultaneously with organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor, particularly in stressful situations
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote)

 

Certificates and Licenses

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification desired
  • Acceptable driving history with valid Driver’s License
  • HAACP, ISO, FSSC, or other quality/food safety auditor certification
