Job Summary:
The Operations Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining,
and conducting safety and security training programs at the Beloit, WI
facility. Also responsible for maintaining Supply Chain safety programs and
procedures related to federal and state OSHA, DOT and other applicable
regulatory agencies. Works with various facility personnel to schedule and
conduct training in order to promote continuous improvement in safety
performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintains
regulatory and company-required records and reports. Assists the Operations
Safety Manager with routine safety and training related activities as needed.
In the absence of the Operations Safety Manager, provides for the completion
of all essential safety functions as necessary.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assists in regulatory compliance with OSHA,
DOT and other regulatory agencies/ departments to achieve company safety
objectives.
- Assists/coordinates safety training and
awareness activities with multiple facilities to ensure effective
training, proper documentation and recordkeeping.
- Maintains safety training programs to ensure
compliance with OSHA, DOT and other regulatory agencies.
- Provides guidance and information to
supervision and management regarding safety training requirements and
compliance as they relate to employee health and safety.
- Assists the Operations Safety Manager with
maintaining accurate OSHA 300 logs and generating all injury/ illness
metrics as required.
- Assists Supply Chain facilities with
maintaining current, consistent Health and Safety programs
facilities-wide.
- Continuously evaluates incident and injury
trends, both within the company as well as the industry. Use this
information to update safety and training programs to ensure their
highest effectiveness and relevance.
- Assists corporate claims staff with
investigation and follow-up of injuries and incidents as needed.
- Acts as a Company representative to
regulatory agencies, insurance auditors, Contractors and Sales
representatives.
- Acts as a member of the plant Safety
Steering Committee and support the plant Safety Committees.
- Maintain a current knowledge of federal,
state, and local regulatory standards and initiatives. Use this
information to update programs as needed, and provide communications to
assure that appropriate Lance personnel are aware of new current or
upcoming standards/requirements.
- Assists with all in-house seminars which
includes scheduling meeting rooms, gathering participants names,
preparing sign-in sheets, presentation materials and handouts, and
related functions.
- Works with confidential material.
- Assists departments in developing, maintain
and refining Job Safety & Health Analysis's
- Monitors Haz-Com Program, Lists and MSDS.
- Prepares monthly reports based on deadlines.
- Prepares materials for various meetings and training
sessions.
- May perform other duties as required.
Scope of Responsibility:
The Coordinator, Operations Safety is responsible for assisting in plant
safety compliance. The Coordinator, Operations Safety provides regulatory
training, audits programs, processes, and maintains safety records. The
Coordinator, Operations Safety provides pertinent safety reports to
Management personnel in order to benchmark safety performances. The
Coordinator, Operations Safety manages the day to day operations of the 1st
Aid Station which may include Nurse Staff. The Coordinator, Operations Safety
is responsible for coordinating DOT fleet compliance programs, along with
administering and maintaining Plant, and DOT compliant drug and alcohol
random testing programs. No direct reports.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Ability to work independently with little or no Supervision. Apply common
sense understanding, to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
in diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables
and/or from standardized situations.
Knowledgeable of Federal, State, and local loss prevention regulations.
Ability to read safety rules, instructions for procedures and mechanical
drawing, write reports with grammatical correctness, and speak with poise,
voice control, and confidence.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Associates or Bachelor's Degree; or equivalent of a minimum of 3 years'
experience in a Safety related environment required.
Physical Demands:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing
the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or
hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally
required to stoop or kneel. The employee must be able to sit most of the day,
typing and using the phone.
Work Environment:
Exposed to heat/cold conditions consistent with snack food manufacturing
conditions as well as an office atmosphere. Exposed to various sound levels
up to 90db in the manufacturing environment and usually quiet in the office
environment. Exposed to dust and oil consistent with a snack food
manufacturing environment.
Travel Required:
Minimal travel may be required.
