Your
Opportunity
Lead
and manage the Supplier Quality Assurance team to deliver compliance for all
new and existing suppliers of The J.M. Smucker Co. Collaborate with external
suppliers and internal Smucker teams to ensure compliance of food safety and
quality standards across teams like Research and Development (R&D), operations,
and procurement.
In this
role you will:
- Develop, manage and implement supplier Food
Safety & Quality programs and procedures; the scope of the position
involves assurance that new and existing suppliers comply with all
Regulatory, Food Safety and Quality standards
- Lead and manage the Supply Quality team
- Coach and develop team members for JMS and
individual growth
- Ensure compliance and improvements to
Approval Process for qualification of new ingredient suppliers and
materials
- Define Food Safety/Quality audit program
standards including training and qualification of Supply Quality
auditors
- Conduct audits at supplier locations to
include audit corrective action follow-up
- Manage quality and food safety expectations
for existing ingredient supply chain including resolution of quality or
food safety issues that affect products and operations
- Monitor industry related events and recalls
to guide Supply Quality program development
- Lead team to maintain raw material hazard
analyses, monitor compliance to Smucker Ingredient Specifications and
work to reduce non-conformances
- Advocate for TraceGains
system improvements and opportunities
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Quality
leadership team on best practices and continuous improvement
opportunities

Check
out our requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology,
Microbiology or related scientific degree
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual
(human or animal food) or HACCP experience
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
environment, QA preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in
QA/Food Safety
- People management experience with small to
mid-size teams
- Meat or pet food experience is desired
- Working technical knowledge of FDA
regulations (cGMPs, FSMA, Allergens), quality
assurance, food manufacturing, AAFCO and GFSI
- Strong ability to lead & work in
cross-functional & team-oriented environment with multiple
disciplines
- Able to communicate clearly to all levels of
JMS, including Leadership, and externally to suppliers
- Self-motivated with high energy level;
self-starter, take charge, positive & proactive attitude
- Proven capabilities in the area of project
management with ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Proven results in advancing continuous
improvement initiatives
- Flexible to support manufacturing plant
issues when they arise including outside of Mon – Fri 8-5
- Detail & process oriented with strong
problem resolution abilities but able to see “the big picture”
- Strong verbal, written and computer skills
(Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Prodika/PLM,
Spotfire data analytics tools)
- Position may require up to 40% travel
annually, including international travel
