#tobeapartner
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different
kind of company. One that not only celebrates coffee and the rich tradition,
but that also brings a feeling of connection. We are known for developing
extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service
to others.
The Handcrafted Beverage product safety and quality
advisor sr role is an incredible opportunity for a
mid-level career food safety and quality professional to be integral in one
of the biggest investments Starbucks has ever made in product innovation and
retail transformation. You will work with industry experts, cross-functional
teams, and an outstanding supply base to drive projects from start to finish.
At the same time, you’ll be continuing a legacy of world class product safety
and quality performance by managing quality signals, product incidents, and
supply base management on a daily basis.
As a product safety & quality advisor sr – Handcrafted Beverage , you will…
- Apply in-depth
technical knowledge to projects and gather insights via supplier and
product assessments and recommendations, across a wide variety of
products inputs (e.g. novel ingredients/packaging, freeze dried
agricultural ingredients, dry powders/mixes, minimally processed
ingredients, syrups, sauces, high acid aseptic products, low acid
products, etc.)
- Proactively
analyze product and supplier quality signals, metrics, audit data,
customer feedback, regulator, and workgroup inputs. Identify trends,
lead investigations, and drive resolution of product related concerns
from regulators, retail stores, field QA partners, and/or internal and
external customers.
- Interface with
and influence suppliers and cross-functional teams, including
internationally based partners, to deliver results within demanding timelines.
Act as a product safety and quality system expert in the development of
new product/project initiatives and operating practices. Always consider
product safety and quality in the context of Starbucks values and
business priorities.
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Demonstrated
strength in food safety and quality leadership, ideally in multiple
manufacturing settings (min 5yrs)
- Experience
supporting the development and implementation of the product safety and
quality aspects of product specifications across organizational teams,
ideally in collaboration with co-manufacturers (min 5yrs)
- Progressive
experience managing the review and development of modern GAP and
GFSI-based programs, ideally including oversight of primary
manufacturing, co-manufacturing, and grower-level process improvement
and supplier management programs
- Experience
auditing to a GFSI standard (GFSI Lead Auditor preferred), managing
customer complaints from multiple sources, and analyzing leading/lagging
performance indicators using SPC – all with a focus on improving both
PSQ outcomes and the customer experience.
- Extensive
product safety and quality management system knowledge, including
regulated HACCP, 21CFR Regulations, and preferably international
standards (e.g. CFIA, EU, etc.)
- Excellent
communication skills – this role requires a partner who is willing to
come to the table with not only solid recommendations, but the data to
back them up. They will be expected to be the product safety and quality
expert for the products they own at any meeting to which they are
invited. In this role, your audiences will need you to be able to break
things down in a way that makes sense AND informs their actions.
