The Regional Technical Manager is responsible for Technical governance and performance in Region for all platforms. Ensuring that governance procedures are in place for to manage Technical risk across Technical commercialisation, Quality & Food Safety and Occupational Health & Safety e.g. creates new processes where relevant, including an auditable regional Technical management system and regional internal audit program. Ensures Technical compliance requirements are identified, and delivered with cross functional business teams for New Market entry and launch of Platforms new to market.

First point of contact for Technical with Coca-Cola Technical teams, Bottler teams and Costa Global Technical Team

Key activities include:

  • Drives Technical performance via metrics and targets, reporting and governance reviews with Regional Executive team (covers Coca-Cola, Bottler & NSF managed activities within the Region).
  • Responsible for identification of Technical risk and ensuring effective management to either, eliminate, mitigate or escalate to the Regional Executive team and the Global Technical Director where appropriate.
  • Creates Regional/local country procedures and defines ways of working to ensure Technical compliance in the Region. e.g. Incident Management Crisis response processes (IMCR), Consumer complaint management to support the Regional business.
  • Ensures seamless New Market entry and launch of Platforms new to market by confirming Technical processes with Coca-Cola OU contacts and Bottlers. Defines ways of working and governance process to ensure Costa Technical standards are clear and embedded by bottlers and their customers e.g. Proud to serve, bottler technical standards and guidance for customers.
  • Ensures Customer complaint processes are in place for new markets, bottlers and customers. Leads Technical IMCR management in region, responsible for ensuring effective investigation and issue resolution. Ensures provision of Technical data from suppliers to bottlers where required. e.g. specifications, certificates of analysis.
  • Manages specifications for regional and local country developed beverage products.
  • Responsible for regional Health & Safety accident reporting, including to relevant Government authorities where required.
  • Responsible for ensuring Technical approval of locally managed Suppliers, Roasteries and Distribution warehouses.
  • Ensures Regional Equity & Franchise Partner stores meet Technical/H&S/Regulatory requirements, working closely with NSF and China team to ensure effective escalation of issues.
  • Governs Technical commercialization process for locally developed/launched products.
  • Highlights any Technical resource requirements to support project delivery. Works with Coca-cola OU contacts to ensure Technical compliance is assured.
  • Develops and deploys internal audit process to ensure Regional Technical compliance.
  • Supports development of Global Technical processes and represents region on Global Technical lead team.

Key stakeholders include:

  • Regional business and project managers.
  • Regional Executive team.
  • Global Technical Director, Head of Global Technical Operations, Bottler Technical and Quality Directors and managers.
  • Relevant SC, Procurement, Franchise and Equity partners, Supplier and Bottler contacts.

The Technical Manager will need a detailed understanding of the Regional business and processes to ensure effective Technical management of activities.

Skills & Experience

  • 5 years Technical or Quality & Food Safety Management experience in Supply Chain & Retail environment
  • Track record of ensuring Governance programs for Supplier Approval, Manufacturing process technology across multiple product categories, Q&FS in manufacturing, distribution and stores)
  • Experience delivering Quality & Food safety management for High risk products (Allergen, Microbiological, Chemical and Physical risks)
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and negotiate courses of action in the event of serious Food Safety & Occupational Health & Safety incidents
  • Experience of managing root cause analysis with Third Party Suppliers & Partners in the event of Product incidents
  • Proven track record of delivering Techncial performance across a range of Technical metrics
  • Experience delivering Technical performance in line with International and USA Food legal & regulatory requirements and specific country Health & Safety legislative requirements where relevant
  • Ability to travel in Region where necessary for audit & root cause analysis and troubleshooting

Preferred

  • Degree in either Science of Food Science related subject
  • IS0 Lead auditor qualified
  • Preferred experience in Food Safety & Quality management for multiple product categories, including: Dairy, Coffee, Ready meals, Cakes & pastries
  • Knowledge of systems management e.g. IS0 9001, FSCC 2200, BRC Food standard, BRC Distribution standard, IFS Food Quality Management
  • Training in basic Food law and regulatory requirements including Due Diligence laws.
  • Note this is a hybrid position, based in Atlanta, US
