SUMMARY
Provides
technical support for NOW Health Group products and services to retailers,
consumers, and other customers by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
- Reviews raw material
specifications, certificates of analysis, Safety Data Sheets, Process
Flow Diagrams, Analytical Test Methods, Organic Certification, Non Genetically
Modified Organism Documentation, Allergen Information, Ingredient
Declarations, Nutritional Composition, Vendor Disclosures, etc. to
complete R&D projects.
- Procures technical information
for formulation development. Completes, verifies accuracy, and
maintains raw material, WIP and SDS sheets.
- Analyzes and provides
effective solutions to chemistry-related issues. Identifies
tests, sends samples to labs for analysis, interprets results, and
reviews and investigates manufacturing procedures and chemical
literature.
- Enters formulas into Oracle
to be reviewed and placed into Approved for Use status. This includes
new products, product improvements, International and Private Label
requests, OOS dispositions for incoming raw materials, etc.
- Develops new master formulas
as assigned.
- Updates Master Formulas,
Oracle formulations and/or processing/packaging instructions with
information provided by R&D personnel.
- Reviews formulas for overages
and label claims when prompted by incoming material OOS
investigations.
- Coordinates
and organizes shelf life studies initiated by R&D.
- Coordinates and organize all
QC special requests by submitting, tracking, following-up, and
providing a summary to the R&D project owner.
- Communicates project details
with other departments.
- Develops preliminary
specifications for new and existing items to be approved by Quality
Assurance.
- Creates item numbers in
Oracle as assigned.
- Coordinates pilot trials
and/or in-process testing as assigned.
- Prepares and submits samples
for Quality Control spike tests and communicates results.
- Provides detailed
justifications for raw materials and in-process mixes that are out of
specification.
- Complies with safety and GMP
requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's
degree (B. S.) in Chemistry, science, or related field from four-year
college or university, and one-year experience preferred in Quality
Assurance or Quality Control, experience in the pharmaceutical or medical
device industries a plus. Working knowledge of Chemistry is
preferred.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS
Ability
to read, analyze, and interpret general business
periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental
regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond
to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general
public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
required.
OTHERS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent
interpersonal, organizational, and attention to
detail skills required. Basic computer skills required, including
proficiency with Word and Excel. Oracle and Shared Point experience a
plus.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS
Ability
to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical
inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING
ABILITY
Excellent
problem solving skills required.
