Essential Functions
/ Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be
assigned as necessary:
- Promote the H-E-B private label product vision, and empower the customer
value proposition internally and externally
as business owner for product quality, with responsibility for setting
product quality direction and prioritization.
- Manage, mentor and drive a team of Product Quality Technologists and
Managers responsible for H-E-B's Private label quality assurance to
accomplish timelines, and the Corporate vision.
- Conduct various forms of research and analysis, including (but not
limited to) testing related to product specifications, key product
attributes, key product variables, physical, chemical and microbiological
assessments for product performance.
- Partner with Own Brand design teams to create strategic solutions that
balance customer and business objectives and ensure that the customer voice
is present throughout the product lifecycle.
- Assist Product Development in the definition and review of business
requirements for development projects, including scope definition and
design.
- Interact with the Customers, Product Development, Product Management,
Marketing, and Business Development to identify new markets and new
opportunities for product enhancements.
- Manage User Group(s) with the goal of providing the customer with an open
forum to discuss and identify common issues, assist each other, and to
resolve these issues.
- Represent H-E-B as Subject Matter Expert on product quality assurance
both internally and externally.
- Review Sales and Revenue Contribution
- Executive level reporting and management of development status, issues,
and escalations.
- Implementation of supplier standards and maintenance of supplier performance.
- Implementation of product maintenance strategy and execution.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in food science, food technology, microbiology /
chemistry or related field, or comparable experience
- Master's or PhD Degree preferred in technical or related business field
- 5 - 10 years experience in retail food science,
manufacturing, private label management, food / non-food research and
development, CPG systems
- 2 - 5 years experience in laboratory science,
to include basics in microbiological, chemical, and physical analyses
- 5 - 7 years leadership experience in quality assurance or related field
- Solid and proven understanding of quality principles as well as proven
experience in application of principles in food and non-food.
