This position is responsible for Product Development formulation bench work, prototype samples, performing flavor work including cost impact and conducting sensory panels.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform bench preparation of prototypes and pilots with supervision.
  • Make adjustments to formulas in Excel and on the bench and evaluate impact to product cost.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations with supervision.
  • Set up shelf life evaluations as specified.
  • Ensure raw materials meet Metagenics specifications.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding specified requests.
  • Evaluate aspects of product label claims.
  • Support filling of Product Requests to the Clinic as directed by upper Prod Dev management.
  • Access information in Metagenics Inventory System (Finesse) on an as needed basis.
  • Access information in Genesis nutritional software as projects require.
  • Communicate with Purchasing, QC and Manufacturing regarding specific issues as directed by upper Prod Dev management.
  • Order lab supplies; support general laboratory upkeep and organization.
  • Receive and log incoming and outgoing samples


  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science or related field
  • 0-2 years experience.


  • Formulation knowledge preferred.
  • Experience performing flavor and product improvements on the bench preferred.
  • Experience conducting sensory panels preferred
  • Familiarity preparing bench prototypes preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Competency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Access.
  • Good verbal and written communication sk
  • Flexibility to handle various tasks and projects simultaneously and deliver promptly to timelines.
  • Ability to meet flavor work and prototypes deadlines.
