Mars Chocolate North America is looking for a Quality & Food Safety
Lead - Regional External Partners in the Joliet, IL area.
The Quality & Food Safety Lead for our Regional
External Partners is responsible to ensure the implementation of all
applicable MARS Global Quality and Food Safety Standards and Regulatory
Standards at the assigned external partner sites within their region. The
role’s focus on robust quality assurance practices will be inclusive of
regional external manufacturing sites and distribution warehouses.
Key Responsibilities:
- The
role promotes QMP compliance through input of quality metrics and
reporting for the function and unit Quality Management Reviews. In
addition, QMP compliance is also achieved through implementation of
applicable MARS Global Standards.
- Lead
implementation of MCNA requirements at assigned third party sites and
continuous improvement on quality and food safety through ongoing change
and risk management, audit, data analysis and review of information and
measurement data, especially input from customers and consumers. The
role involves training, auditing, problem-solving, providing
disposition, and assuring corrective actions are properly implemented.
- Validate
new lines and/or capabilities at the assigned sites. Complete risk
assessments and specifications to define expectations per lines,
capabilities, and products. Ensure robust change management processes
are followed.
- Lead
the incident management process for the assigned sites using MARS’
systems to drive documentation and reporting of the incidents. Provide
disposition and follow through of non-conforming product with effective
corrective action plans.
- Manage
the site’s product verification program that will audit the quality and
food safety of each shift’s product.
- Drive
continuous improvement through the standardization of verification and
communication activities at the regional distribution and co-packing
center using morning meetings, FMOS, product review programs, etc.
- The
associate will provide immediate disposition on product; answer
questions regarding packaging, donor, finished product, and distribution
incidents; and lead continuous improvement efforts of the processes
within the external manufacturing and distribution networks.
- Similar
to MCNA factory “Morning Meetings”, the regionally dedicated associate
will be performing product verification on the product produced at the
regional distribution center. Immediate feedback and/or actions will be
assigned to the external manufacturing site’s leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering or related
technical field
- 4
years of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food
safety
- In
lieu of a degree a combination of education + 4
years demonstrated success in relevant manufacturing/quality experience
working with a quality and food safety management system
- Experienced
auditor and/or accreditation in GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC,
FSSC 22000 or ISO 9000 preferable
- Ability
to travel 25% of the time.
- Successful
Completion of a drug and background screen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced
Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering or related
technical field
- 5+
years of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food
safety
- ASQ
certification
- Advanced
understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Good Laboratory
Practices (GLP's), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems
(HACCP), FSSC 22000 or ISO 9000, Regulatory and Food Law Guidelines,
Sensory, and Microbiology.
