Description GENERAL
DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE: The position
is responsible for managing the East Coast Food Safety program for
berries. The Food Safety Manager works
as a liaison between growers and the business to ensure all Dole and FSMA
food safety standards are met or exceeded. Food safety areas of focus include
but are not limited to pack houses, coolers, harvest crews and fields. MAJOR
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Ensure all
Dole suppliers are approved and have third-party audits. Perform G.A.P.
and G.M.P audits and be up to date regarding any changes to G.A.P and G.M.P
third party audits. Ensure all
Dole suppliers follow Dole and FSMA food safety requirements. Identify
areas of microbial risk and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Provide
internal and external food safety training regarding food safety policies and
practices. Manage and
maintain food safety related policies. Supervise
and train Food Safety Specialist and Administrative Assistant on Dole food
safety requirements and program. In
conjunction with the Dole FSMA management team, ensure FSMA programs are
being followed and maintained internally and externally. Must be
willing to travel to various growing regions in Mexico, Chile, Argentina as
well as North America, as needed. Ensure
customer requests related to berries food safety are completed appropriately
and timely. Other
duties as assigned. Required
Skills SKILLS: Technical
knowledge of regulatory requirements, inclusive of FSMA, microbial hazards,
third party audit bodies, sanitation procedures and field and plant
operations. Strong
written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Must have
the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand
and follow posted work rules/procedures. Must be
self-motivated and able to keep projects moving forward under stressful
conditions. Changing priorities will be a persistent factor. Required
Experience EXPERIENCE
& EDUCATION: Minimum of
three years in a food safety related field. BA/BS
degree in Microbiology, Food Sciences, or related field. Job
