POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our Research & Development department is seeking a
self-motivated food enthusiast to create products in our facility in
Concord, MA. The Technologist is responsible for lab and pilot plant
testing, batching, production, labeling, packaging, organoleptic analyses,
maintenance, and managing inventory of materials and samples. The ideal
candidate has a passion for hands-on work, demonstrates the ability to
foster strong partnerships with internal and external partners, and the
agility to positively learn, adapt, and adjust to make a difference every
day.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- With a high
degree of independence manipulate formulas, conduct batching,
production, and testing of beverages and food products on the lab bench
or in the pilot plant to meet project objectives and in accordance
with HACCP and GMP requirements.
- Operate & troubleshoot
lab instruments (e.g. pH meters, refract meters, titrators,
etc.) and pilot plant equipment (e.g. pasteurizer, carbonator, filter
press, etc.) to produce reliable results.
- Obtain and interpret results
during product testing, batching, production runs, and sensory
studies.
- Assist supervisor with
planning experiments and setting priorities.
- Plan, execute, and analyze
stability studies and sensory tests (e.g. triangle tests).
- Proactively maintain a clean
and sanitary work environment.
- Identify and act on
continuous improvement opportunities including documentation of
procedures.
- G eneral
support of R&D including; restocking inventory, equipment
maintenance and calibration, receiving, labeling, and packing samples,
and participation on continuous improvement team.
- Support product runs at
manufacturing plants.
- Mentor and train peers when
called upon.
- Perform other duties as
directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree
in Food Science or Chemical Engineering.
- 0-2 years previous food and
beverage experience a plus (including internships).
- Ability to operate and
maintain equipment safely and in accordance with GMPs.
- Strong data collection,
mechanical, and communication skills.
- Good computer skills
including knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel (DevEx experience a plus).
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs on a daily and weekly basis.
