The Internal Food Safety Q&A Auditor will conduct technical assessment at manufacturing sites and business unit to ensure pre-requisite programs and quality and food safety management systems are maintained, continually improved and effective at mitigating food safety risks and ensuring product quality while meeting regulatory and customer requirements.

This role will develop and deliver Internal Audit training to ensure that all audits teams within Mars Chocolate North America are skilled, effective and calibrated on internal auditing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

•Performs Mars site and business unit internal audits and monitors completion of identified corrective actions

•Discontinues production activities when a critical finding is identified at a manufacturing site

•Reports audit findings, trends and opportunities to Mars Management team

•Drives improvements to Mars Chocolate North America Q&FS Management system and standardization of practices

•Manage third party QMP audit program for sites and business to ensure effectiveness and quality of audits

•Develops internal auditing capability to assure MCNA has a competent auditor pool

•Champion for the Quality Management System Community of Practice

•Assess food safety programs like HACCP, GMP’s, sanitation, food defense, pest control, quality and continuous improvement of the Quality Management Program through internal audits of Mars sites and Business Unit

•Complete report of audit findings, including documentation of corrective / preventive actions and perform trend analysis to drive continuous improvement within Mars Chocolate North America

•Coordinate third party QMP audit requirements and schedules in collaboration with stakeholders. Partner with third party auditors and lead calibration to Mars Chocolate requirements.

•Conduct product reviews to assess overall conformance to quality requirements and document non conformities

•Lead training and calibration of site and BU internal auditing teams to ensure that all internal audits are effective


Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering or related technical field
•Experienced auditor or accreditation in GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000 or ISO9000 preferable
•5 years as lead auditor for GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000, ISO9000 or ISO17025
•3 years of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food safety or Quality and food safety management system
•Ability to travel 40% of the time
•Must be physically able to safely ascend to heights, be able to bend, crawl and move safely and freely around machinery without assistance
•Successful Completion of a drug and background screen
Preferred Requirements:
•Advanced Degree
•6+ years as lead auditor for GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000, ISO9000 or ISO17025
•4+ years of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food safety or Quality and food safety management system
•experience with: Food safety risk, identification and management, HACCP and prerequisite controls
Product Quality Custodian, Statistical Process Control and Process improvement methodologies
Knowledge of and experience with ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems
Knowledge of GMP, food allergens, pest control, sanitation, and Food Safety Modernization Act
