FOOD SAFETY SPECIALIST, PLANT QUALITY SERVICES - CUR S

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the development, administration, training, and monitoring of all aspects of quality and food safety within our organization. Provide and interface for state and local regulatory agencies in regards to food safety concerns. Oversee regulations and implement same on all monitoring systems and evaluate it on regular basis to ensure compliance with law. Conduct workplace safety evaluations and identify areas of improvement and provide effective solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Program (HACCP) to include administration of this regulatory program to ensure compliance with USDA regulations and JMFG policies and procedures.

Develop and maintain Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and required training.

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) development, maintenance and training.

SQF – create, maintain and oversee SQF Quality Plant. Take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF System; and communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure effective implementation and maintenance.

Allergen Control Program – Review, monitor and maintain company’s Allergen Control Program in all aspects to include company practices, storage and personnel training.

Labeling – responsible for maintenance of company’s labeling policies/procedures/practices to assure that labels for each company product are accurate. Conduct annual label audits and label revision as needed.

Chemical and Micro Testing – assure company’s chemical and microbiological testing programs meet or exceed the expectations of our customers, regulatory agencies, 3rd party auditors and the JMFG policy manual.

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology or a related discipline OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience is preferred.

One to three (1-3) years’ supervisory experience, HACCP certification, knowledge of USDA regulations and Quality Control program.
