Family owned and operated since 1935, Wayne E. Bailey Produce Company, Inc. has grown to be one of the world's largest sweet potato operations.

Wayne E. Bailey Produce Company is dedicated to food safety by adhering to Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).  These practices are followed throughout the growing, harvesting, storage, processing, and shipping processes. 

Wayne E. Bailey Produce Company (WEB) is an environmentally-friendly operation from the ground up.  Every aspect from planting seeds to packing sweet potatoes is constantly monitored. 

Our GLOBAL GAP certification attests to our commitment to food safety and land stewardship. All of our management staff is certified by the USDA Audit Program for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP's) and Good Handling Practices (GHP's).  In addition, our company follows the In-Plant Food Safety/Hygiene Audit and Training program by the American Institute of Baking (AIB).

Global Gapcertification is based on the essential elements for best practices for the global production of horticultural products.  The aim is to ensure integrity, transparency and harmonization of global agricultural standards. This includes the requirements for safe food production that respects worker health and safety, environmental protection and animal welfare issues.

USDAprovides an audit-based verification program that will attest to participants’ voluntary adherence to the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) “ Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables” (FDA guidance document).  Auditors are licensed fresh fruit and vegetable inspectors, and are trained in the technical specifications of the GAP and GHP Audit Verification Program.  USDA-AMS has worked with the States to develop the program, and ensure program integrity, uniformity, and consistency nationwide.

We also participate in a GFSI audit of the packing and processing facilities for adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), plant sanitation standards and employee hygiene.  The food safety audit is conducted by a professionally trained staff of food safety auditors. Food processors who participate in the in-plant audit program receive a complete examination and technical assistance in all areas that affect product integrity, regulatory exposure and pesticide use.

Food Safety/Quality Assurance Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications:

BA degree in technical field (i.e. food science, microbiology, or equivalent)

Responsibilities:

Maintain our current food safety systems as well as developing new programs and with implementation.

Ensure HACCP, SSOP, traceability, inspection program and prerequisite programs are in compliance with food safety regulations and company policies

Third Party Audits/Inspections

Training plant employees on quality topics, Food Safety, and Food Security

Microbial Testing…..water, product, equipment etc.

Validation Studies

Continuous improvement of quality for our product

Maintain QA training and operating manuals

Manage facility Food Safety inspections…. USDA, GAP, GFSI, SQF

Other duties may be assigned as food safety compliance and company policies adjust.
