  • Develop, compile, interpret, monitor and evaluate information/data
  • Conduct studies of existing procedures, recommend and develop alternative procedures
  • Request, receive and respond to requests for information/data
  • Enter and retrieve information from a variety of systems (e.g., recall, emergency, consumer complaint, DEI, FSIS Residue Violation System, samples and management control/tracking)
  • Collect a variety of non-complex samples; e.g., certain types of consumer complaint and import samples
  • Use software programs such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, electronic mail in order to create and/or edit letters, memos and reports
  • Maintain inspectional equipment and materials, calibrate equipment and arranging for repairs, perform general office work such as mailing, filing, maintaining calendars of activities and appointments, travel arrangements and schedules, timkeeping, answer phones and greet visitors
  • Collection of non-complex samples requires some travel

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

To qualify at the GS-05 level, you should have an education and/or experience level that meets one of the following:

A.) One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service performing clerical/administrative duties which involved: receiving visitors/phone calls, directing caller to appropriate staff; maintaining files; maintaining policies/procedures/documents for ready reference; maintaining office supplies; arranging equipment repair, and/or office moves; performing travel-related duties; reconciling leave/overtime or similar related duties.
B.) Completed four years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite at an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
C.) A combination of specialized experience described in letter A. above and post high school education described in letter B. above in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) that totals at least one year. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

To qualify at the GS-06 level, you should have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service performing clerical/administrative duties which involved: compiling information; searching files, HR, security, travel, training, files management, budget, supplies and inventory, property accountability, or space management; developing/implementing office procedures, maintaining employee records, performance appraisals, job descriptions, etc.

To qualify at the GS-07 level, you should have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service performing clerical/administrative duties which involved: performing a variety of administrative assignments including: managing key staff activities; coordinating large meetings; providing complex information to customers; researching data for complex correspondence and reports on variety of administrative matters.
