KEY RESULT AREAS:

The Post Foods Division Food Safety Manager is responsible for assuring that all aspects of the Food Safety System are designed, implemented, and working effectively throughout the 4 plant network. This role will also have responsibility for our supplier quality program and will supervise a direct report in this area.


Job Duties:

• Lead the collaboration between Quality, Operations, R&D, and Procurement to assure effective Food Safety and Sanitation policies and procedures are designed, implemented, and maintained.
• Support new and improved product and process risk assessments.
• Supervise the Vendor Quality Technician and assure the necessary documents and site QA evaluations are complete.
• Support the manufacturing plants, co-manufacturers, and/or suppliers by providing technical support, troubleshooting, training, allergen plan assessments, HACCP plan reviews, and environmental testing reviews as needed.
• Develop and coordinate actions plans to reduce or eliminate food safety/sanitation failures during manufacturing by employing the latest techniques and equipment available.
• Audit manufacturing plants, co-manufacturers, suppliers, and distribution centers to assure compliance to the Post policies and procedures.
• Develop and monitor key performance measures as it relates to product safety, sanitation and pest control. Ensure that Post policies are maintained by implementing plant procedures and systems to ensure that products produced meet all Post expectations.
• Work with the consumer response team to analyze consumer feedback as it relates to product safety.
• Assures action plans are developed and implemented for specific problem areas.
• Investigate, develop and recommend changes in procedures and work processes leading to improved product safety.
• Assist in the design safety analysis of new promotional items when needed.
• Facilitate the sharing of best practices across all manufacturing plants.
• Implement Food Safety Modernization Act, (FSMA), requirements as it pertains to food safety, sanitation, and other pre-requisite programs to support HACCP, FSMA and overall food safety requirements.
• Develop Thermal Verification and Validation program across all Post manufacturing locations, implement and assess and develop/drive corrective actions as needed.
• Work with manufacturing facilities to continuously have 3 year infrastructure plans in place to minimize food safety risks.
• Supports the organization in designing and implementing food plant security procedures.
• Other duties/assignments as requested by the leadership team.





Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


• Bachelor's degree required in microbiology, science/chemistry, food technology or related experience.
• 10+ years of food safety/quality and sanitation experience required. Experience in manufacturing and/or R&D is desirable.
• HACCP certification required.
• Previous experience working with GFSI audit systems required.
• Good communication skills, both, oral and written.
• Excellent knowledge of GMP’s. Sanitation, Allergens, Food Safety Modernization Act and Product Safety prerequisite programs.
• Has plant knowledge and knows quality and product safety systems, food law, and cereal products.
• Understands internal and external stakeholder requirements
• A State certified pest control license is preferred.
• Knowledge of statistics is preferred.
• Must have excellent decision making ability and deep understanding of the responsibilities associated with the position.
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing facility.
• Extensive travel (25-40%) is required.
• Must be able to work in a team environment and will need to have excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be a team player that can get things accomplished through others.
