Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Food Safety Support Internship is designed to give students practical work experience, while pursuing a degree in a related field.  Interns have the opportunity to work on real business problems, gain exposure to HACCP programs including prerequisite programs, and assist in scientific based food safety verification activities as it relates to the transportation of food.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist mentor with HACCP applications
  • Update and maintain SharePoint site with current food safety news
  • Become exposed to comprehensive food safety systems in various commercial food applications
  • Research and present new technology as it relates to food safety and transportation
  • Perform limited risk assessments
  • Review standard operating procedures for compliance

 

Qualifications:

Be enrolled in a food safety related degree program such as Animal Science, Food Science, Poultry Science, etc.  at an accredited academic institution.  Be able to work at least 20 hours a week during the school semester.  Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Preference will be given to applicants that have experience with HACCP.
