Associate Scientist - Food Microbiology-1303306 - IL-Glenview

This position is a Scientist in the Preservation Group. The candidate will be responsible for and leading R&D activities focusing on developing preservation solutions for food safety and spoilage concerns. The candidate will work closely with the Bioconversions and Preservation team, enabling technology teams from each BU, and the Micro/Food Safety Team. This position will allow the candidate to develop technical expertise and demonstrate strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and execute project plans to identify and evaluate current commercial antimicrobial solutions
  • Drive and execute preservation project agreements with BU’s
  • Lead and execute the evaluation of novel preservation solutions from open innovation searches
  • Complete bench and/or pilot plant experiments in support of the above responsibilities

Qualifications

  • M.S. in Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry with 3-5 years relevant experience in the Food Preservation
  • The candidate is ideally someone who has background and expertise in biochemistry, microbiology and/or molecular biology with an emphasis on food preservation
  • Fluent understanding of product and process impacts to food preservation
  • Interface with multiple cross-functional groups to execute programs.
  • Interface with multiple technical experts to understand technologies and potential applications.
  • Strong project execution skills
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication
  • Agile learner and can work independently
  • Skilled in developing experimental plans and interpreting results
