Reduce customer insect and foreign
material complaints, promote Integrated Pest Management techniques for
Methyl Bromide reduction/elimination, Master Sanitation validations,
sanitation assurance/effectiveness programs, implementation of Enterprise
sanitation policies and procedures, application of sanitary design
standards, and delivering effective sanitation training programs to drive
enterprise and platform sanitation initiatives.
Supervision:
Plans and directs an operations staff of specialists in the general day-to-day
routine work in support of plant sanitation and pest control. Meets
strategic business needs by being involved in cross-functional teams.
Technical
Support: For assigned plants, advise operations management on effectiveness
of routine plant sanitation and cleaning programs. Guide plants during
special plant sanitation issues including microbiological, environmental
control, insect and foreign material control. Ensure plant follow up of food
protections programs to detect and eliminate sources of contamination.
Provide sanitary design recommendations for new and existing equipment.
Provide support for customers and 3rd party audits. Follow up on food safety
related issue root cause and corrective actions.
HACCP:
Support the HAACP plan updates and validate the plan and pre requisite
programs directly in assigned plants. Work with high collaboration to the
Enterprise food safety group and others in the reassessment process.
Cost
Effectiveness: Maintain cost effective programs and practices that are
consistent across all assigned plants. As requested, work with internal
resources and external sanitation vendors to improve sanitation performance
and costs.
Problem
Solving: Utilize process metrics and experience to prevent problems that could
affect product safety and quality. Investigate sanitation issues, which are
resulting in product contamination, reduced shelf-life, or customer
rejection of products. Aid in the identification of root cause and
corrective actions.
Customer
Service: Work closely with customers on sanitation type complaints. Visit
customers to help resolve issues. Acts as liaison between Plants and
customers to maximize services provided.
Education
and Training: Teach appropriate operational personnel on new or improved
cleaning and pest control methods, procedures, equipment, technologies and
other new developments in the field of sanitation and pest control. Attend
technical meetings to continually update knowledge in advances in sanitation
and pest control. Conduct and manage activities related to internal
sanitation and pest control audits for assigned plants.
Equipment:
As needed, provide sanitary design advice on equipment and machinery-based
changes. Work closely with Engineering and equipment vendors to assure that
new equipment meets sanitary design and regulatory design requirements prior
to installation in assigned plants.
Policies
& Procedures: Provide expertise in the development of policies and
procedures relating to sanitation upon request. Support the standardization
of practices across assigned plants. This includes conformance to food
safety and quality standards and working with plant management and others to
ensure that these standards are met. Help establish labor requirements for
each plant based on needs.
Pest
Control: Support all pest management functions at assigned plant including
the purchase, storage, inventory, use and disposal of restricted use
pesticides and other hazardous substances. Position plays a technical
support role between pest management vendor and plant QA (if applicable).
Hands-on-Coverage:
Spend at least 70% of time at the Hastings, MN ConAgra Mill facilities shop
floor observing process workflow, equipment operations, and ensuring that
sanitation guidelines are being followed.
