Job Description
Food Product Development Scientist role is to develop new
products, improve existing products and/or processes, and provide technical
expertise to the Research and Development Department as well as the
Production Facilities. This position requires developing products and/or
processes from the concept stage through commercialization, documenting
formulas, procedures, and assist in the development of Quality Control
Standards. The Product Development Scientist will also provide support to
Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Sales, and our customers. DUTIES INCLUDE: •
Plan, execute, evaluate bench top and plant trial product development
activities, and complete product development projects from concept stage
through commercialization. • Will interface with the Sales Department and
customers to identify and develop suitable products. • Respond in a timely
manner to customer requests. • Maintain accurate documentation of work
activities and communicates results. • Develop and maintain formulas,
specifications and label declarations for both private label and contract
manufactured products. • Actively support the resolution of
formulation/processing issues, and the identification and implementation of
cost savings opportunities. • Ensure compliance of kosher, organic, state
and federal regulatory requirements. • Provide support to other Food
Technologists and Technicians. • Assist in the identification of process
improvements that optimize line speeds, yields, productivity, and line
efficiency, as well as minimize waste and losses. • Support plant wide
safety procedures and policies, and provides technical support in
developing and training plant staff. CANDIDATES MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING
QUALIFICATIONS: • BS Degree in Food Science or related field • Minimum 3-5
years experience in food product development • Background in commercial
cookie, cracker, bar manufacturing and/or dry mix bakery products a plus
