POSITION TITLE:

Food Science and Nutrition Specialist

STATUS:

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, this position is generally responsible for developing and maintaining nutritional information for FCH Enterprises, Inc.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Utilize the ESHA Genesis R&D Software program to determine nutritional and calorie information.

·         Develop and maintain ingredient and recipe data bases for nutritional calculation.

·         Build and maintain files (electronic and manual) for all products made by the divisions of FCH Enterprises, Inc.

·         When necessary, contact manufacturers for related information.

·         Utilizes professional record keeping skills to document necessary data and analysis.

·         Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Scheduling:

·         Monday through Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, may be asked to work later if needed.

Physical Ability:

·         Able to sit for 5-8 hours a day.

·         Able to lift at least 30-50 lbs.

Mental Ability:

·         Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as volumetric calculations, conversions, etc.

·         Ability to apply common sense and sound judgment

·         Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

·         Ability to comprehend and apply information from official governmental guidelines, documents, and resources.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

·         Pass a tuberculosis (TB) skin test within 5 years of start date.

·         Pass drug screening test.

Environmental Conditions:

·         Production kitchen and/or laboratory and office environment.

Education:

·         Food Science and Human Nutrition knowledge/background

·         Knowledge of FDA food labeling guidelines

Experience:

·         Minimum 2 years in related work desired.

Desired Skills:

·         Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format

·         Ability to explain research findings in layman’s terms

·         Ability to work independently

·         Is proficient in basic computer use, software programs, etc.

·         Proficient in record keeping
