Job Description
|
Sr. Sensory
Scientist
Consumer Product Research – Ada, MI
The
Sr. Research Scientist will develop and direct significant global
research studies and programs guiding the development of consumer
preferred products in our Amway product portfolio. This individual
will help build the current state of scientific knowledge and
understanding within Consumer Product Research to affedt a world class sensory research division
for a growing global company. The successful candidate will offer
thought leadership on sensory research techniques, descriptive
analysis, technical methodologies, and analysis tools and
reporting. Additionally, they
will have an awareness of international consumer markets to assist
in guiding research standards for consumer studies globally. The Sr. Research Scientist will
report directly to the Supervisor Group Leader Consumer Product
Research.
NOTE: There is flexibility for this
position to be based in either Buena Park, CA or Ada, MI.

Lead
high impact, global strategic programs and projects for Consumer
Project Research
- Develop research
processes and product specifications required for global
products
- Manage project
activities, budget and timelines across business, product
categories and platforms
- Manage research
priorities in partnership with R & D leadership to ensure
business objectives are met
- Design consumer
sensory procedures that provide global uniformity and
consistency
- Advise project teams
/ product development on project direction based on sensory
research results
- Provide value-added consumer insights that
identify new product opportunities and provide guidance to
Product Development on claim support
Lead
capability and competency development of the global Consumer Product
Research network to ‘best in class’
- Explore and recommend
new methods/techniques/technologies to establish and maintain
Consumer Product Research as a state-of-the-art
sensory/consumer research program
- Develop new sensory/consumer
methodologies involving new technologies supporting R&D
and marketing initiatives
- Provide industry best
practice opportunities to a growing Consumer Research team
providing industry resources and expertise to guide continuous
improvement opportunities and develop staff
- Contribute to global
Consumer Product Research Center of Excellence and sensory
network via high performance virtual teaming, alignment of
global test strategies, and global best practices
- Represent Consumer
Product Research and Amway through external activities at
professional conferences and active memberships in
professional organizations
The
accomplished individual will possess…
- Minimum 10 years experience in sensory sciences role
with a consumer products company
- Experience in the
design and implementation of sensory programs, sensory and
consumer research, statistical analysis, and the evaluation of
new products
- Background with
development of standardized guidelines, formats, processes, and
protocols to align sensory and consumer research across
platforms
- Statistical design
skills with the ability to interpret complex data to meaningful
business support materials
- Demonstrated
interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams, influence
decisions and partner with a variety of internal partners,
external vendors, and technical resources
- Strong organizational
and leadership skills with responsibility to deliver
meaningful, quality results

Biostatistics, Food Science, or Sensory Science)
