The Department of Food and Nutrition is seeking an individual for
an Academic Position in Food Science with a concentration in Biochemistry.
Screening Begins Screening of candidates will begin March 1, 2011.
Starting Date Monday, August 29, 2011
Salary and Rank Competitive and dependent upon academic preparation and

Qualifications: Earned Ph. D. in food science required having a
concentration in the biochemical properties of food preferred. An advanced
degree or concentration in nutritional sciences is highly desirable.
Previous teaching and research experience at the university level and food
industry experience are highly desirable. Candidates must have a commitment
to teach and interest to conduct research in the areas of bioactive food
components and nutritional effects, functionalities and properties of food
components, performance of functional and bioactive components during food
processing and storage, and integrated research in food biochemistry with
health and wellness. Applicants must have outstanding oral and written
communication skills, experience in teaching, excellent interpersonal
skills, an interest to work on collaborative and multidisciplinary research
projects, and an aptitude for grant writing.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will provide leadership in
teaching and research in biochemical properties of food, with the
expectation of grant-writing in this area. The successful candidate is
expected to teach core undergraduate and graduate courses (lecture and
laboratory), develop courses as needed, serve as student advisor and
mentor, engage in national professional activities, and provide community
and University services. The successful candidate must have a desire to
build effective collaborations with faculty in Food and Nutritional
Sciences Department to enhance the University's mission of teaching,
research and service.
