Job Summary

Play a key role in optimizing existing products by testing better ways to process, package and deliver existing Mezzetta products. Work with a team to develop working relationships with raw material suppliers to promote the best, quality ingredients. Build a product evaluation panel to evaluate finished goods and competitive cuttings to ensure that final product is the highest quality. Develop and implement a sophisticated cutting program for all product cuttings to ensure accurate test results are produced by trained panelist. The Food Technologist will work closely with Quality Assurance/R&D and Marketing to assist in quality driven projects.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, analyze and interpret Finished Goods Testing and Drift Program to evaluate to ensure that the highest quality products are shipped to our customers.

 

  • Work closely with Quality Assurance/Technical Services to improve supplier relations, raw ingredient quality and ingredient specifications.

 

  • Conduct tests coordinated by Continuous Improvement Manager/QA Director to improve existing products and efficiencies.

 

  • Develop and Implement a shelf life testing program for all products to ensure the highest quality product for the duration of the shelf life.

 

  • Support R&D/Sales by creating samples upon request.

 

  • Implement Finished Goods Testing Program and coordinate a rotating product evaluation panel for cuttings.

 

  • Assist Operations and R&D with process and product improvement testing. Provide technical support for Operations and Sales & Marketing.

 

  • Support improvement of existing products to meet or exceed quality and cost objectives.

 

  • Investigate issues that arise in operations and implement solutions.

 

  • Document formulations and processes for use in operations, costing and ERP system.

 

  • Develop and Implement a shelf life analysis program to ensure the highest quality product for the extent of the shelf life.


Requirements:

  • 1 year minimum of related experience in the food industry
  • Proficient Excel and Word skills
  • Excellent communicator both written and oral
  • Can link consumer and sensory data into a cohesive story.
  • Excellent understanding of sensory science.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Inquisitive, ambitious, detail oriented
  • Working knowledge of statistics

Education:
Minimum 4 year technical degree preferably Food Science or related industry
