Job Description:
Position Summary
The Restaurant Safety Coordinator is responsible for working with
Operations to ensure food safety and safe food handling practices in all
CMG restaurants. This includes reviewing Health Department inspection and
customer incident reports and working in conjunctions with Operations
Managers to ensure incident follow-up. Escalates incidents as necessary to
appropriate parties.
Main Accountabilities
Principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Reviews customer incident reports and analyzes for issues and trends.
Escalates as necessary to claims adjuster and rapid response team.
Monitors online customer incident reports to ensure they comply with
corporate policy and procedures.
Using the online customer incident report system, tracks the status and
escalation of issues to ensure the appropriate individuals are involved and
managing situations as required.
Receives, reviews, and interprets Health Department restaurant inspection
reports and communicates necessary actions and directives to Operations Managers.
Ensures Area Managers are following-up on customer incidents and Health
Report action items.
Escalates critical issues to Director, Safety, Security and Risk as
necessary.
Builds relationships and develops contacts with Health Departments. Works
with Operations and Corporate Wellness to respond to Health Department
actions and directives.
Notes food safety trends and issues affecting the company and provides
additional information to Corporate or Operations if necessary.
Works with Operations and Training to apprise them of typical food safety
and safe food handling issues at CMG restaurants.
Qualifications
Education/Training:
Bachelors degree. Degree in Public Health, Food Science, Food
Microbiology, Environmental Health or related field strongly preferred.
Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Registration or Certification as an Environmental Health Specialist or
Food Safety and Protection Professional is preferred.
Preferred Work Experience or Equivalent:
2-4 years of related professional experience. Proven track record working
in effective restaurant food safety, health department or public health
position for 2 or more years is strongly preferred. Excellent
qualifications may be considered in lieu of directly related experience.
Knowledge/Skill:
Excellent writing skills including ability to spell properly and compose
clear, concise and understandable messages.
Restaurant management experience is a plus.
Verbal, organizational skills and computer proficiency (Excel and other
Microsoft Office products).
Self motivated, with the ability to work independently and within a team
environment.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communications skills including teaching/coaching ability and
presentation skills.
Ability to build successful working relationships, by listening
effectively, responding rapidly and communicating with candor and honesty.
Ability to acquire and evaluate data.
Ability to multi-task.
Travel Requirements:
Minimal.
Must be available to travel at last-minute notice as required.
Limited international travel may be required (Canada).
